November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

So to finish my story from the other day....my coworker definitely has chicken pox....now for the next 14-16 days I can be on pins and needles about getting them. I've had them before,

Mindy,
From what I understand you cannot get chickenpox twice. It comes out in the form of shingles instead, which I have had. My advice to you is to talk with you doctor, tell him the situation, and maybe he can prescribe you the antiviral med they give for shingles. If you take it within the first 48 hours of an outbreak it lessens the effects of the shingles. Shingles usually show up on your stomach, back or face and are only on one side of the body. Shingles is not as easily spread as chickenpox, I think, so try not to worry.

I just got my Cricut carts. I want to try it out on y'all:rotfl:

This is the LAST chance to join.

I will close this on Friday, Sept. 26th, 2008

I went through the Online Check In, and is it just the 3 papers that print out that we need, and we're all set? It printed out:

-DCL Cruise Contract Signatures (Online Check-In Signature Form)
-Payment Authorization Summary (with signatures)
-There's also a Guest Information sheet that printed out

That's all I saw though. So is that all we need? And that would make check in go a little quicker? I last cruised with Disney in 2004, so my memory is a bit rusty. Well that and I forget just about EVERYTHING. :upsidedow

I'm wondering about this, too, being a newbie and all...

I just ran to the door, Fed Ex was outside- but, of course, it was 125 white cotton napkins to be stamped at the craft fair I'm running in November..:headache: What a let down!!

Hey- for those of you with 9 year olds- what kind of sign-out priviledges are you planning on giving them? (From the clubs)

Bummer! That is the worst. Around here UPS delivers the Cruise docs, so the fed-ex guy is safe from stalking :goodvibes

I don't have a 9 year old of my own, but based on the ones I know and am responsible for on occasion, I would probably not give them sign out priviledges. I know every kid is different, but when you get a bunch of them together "pack" mentality can kick in and they go on a rampage ;)
Ok, maybe a "slight" exaggeration, but you know what I mean.

I am also a newbie, but that's all that printed out for me. It took me forever to realize I had to activate authorization for the kids...it kept telling me my paper work was incomplete.

As for sign out priveleges, I'm glad my two are only 7 so I don't need to worry about that. Our friends who we are traveling with have an almost 9 year old. She's giving him sign out priveleges. I personally have tried to dissuade her...be she thinks it's a good idea. I don't because he has ADD and is not known for making "good" decisions when not on his medication (which he won't be taking on the cruise.)

Wow, I thought the documents came through regular mail. Shows you how much I know. Last time we *fought* with our AAA agent to even give us our documents 2 weeks before the cruise.

So I guess I'll have to look for a UPS slip, or see if my apartment office just has the stuff sitting there and hasn't been telling me. Oh the joy of apartment life!

Now I have to work like mad to finish up my magnets for my door and my parent's door and get them printed out. SO excited!! :cheer2:

and

I should have stalking the UPS guys instead?

Thanks for the heads up!:lmao:

If I remember correctly, the cruise docs come quicker when you book straight through DCL. For those of you who have received docs, did you book with a TA or straight from DCL? It seems as though we usually get ours a couple weeks ahead from a TA and about a month ahead if DCL because DCL sends them to the TA who sends them on, but I could be wrong. Hmmmmmmmm.....

What is everyone going to be for Halloween? It is only 5 weeks away. We are going as Peter Pan, Wendy, and Tinkerbell.

Just had DD to doctors- asked about med for seasickness for cruise; she said use Benadryl, okay by me. anyone have ever been told this?
We recieved all trip docs with in the past week. just need to do on-line doc. staring to get clothes washed and gathered for trip since summer temps are basically gone from NJ. Still have to inform school of trip waiting until mid Oct. to write the note.

Benadyl might have the effect of making your DD sleepy. My DD has always gotten car sick. Not sure how she is going to react on the ship. I'm bringing Bonine. She's 7 and I don't use the children's strength (doesn't work as well for her) I use the regular one that's good for 12 hours. She tolerates it well, it doesn't make her sleepy at all. Much better for her than dramine too. I recommended it to an adult friend and she couldn't stop singing it's praises. I know benadryl would put my DD right to sleep.

Before our first cruise we were reccomended to try whatever sea sickness medicine we were wanting to use before we got on the ship for that very reason.
DH does fine with the less drowsy dramamine, but our friend just can't stay awake at all.
I don't get motion sickness (thank goodness!) but DH turns green when the seas get rough if he does not take something.
He always takes it before we board, then plays it by ear the rest of the week.

I only took Benadryl once in my life for an allergic reaction.
The next day I fell asleep at work (literally... totally embarassing!) I could not keep my eyes open. It was awful.
