November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

My DH and I use the seasickness patch, called Transderm Scop. It worked great for us! :thumbsup2 We had forgotten to take it when we first got on the ship and we started to get sick. We put the patch on right away and we were fine the rest of the trip. :)

I think that Bonine sounds great- I'll have to pick some up, just in case- this is the boys' first cruise, and although they've never gotten any kind of motion sickness in the past, better safe than sorry. DH & I have always been fine on cruises- the only time I get motion sick is in the backseat in ST JOHN, USVI. Ever been? The roads are steep and twisty- with no guardrails on the cliff's edge-:scared: . Not that fun when you've stayed out too late the night before!!:crazy2: :rotfl:

I just found a skirt to be a cheerleader in for Halloween- DH will be a baseball player, DS11 football and DS9 soccer or basketball, since we have all the uniforms. Actually, they could all go in matching pinstripes, but since there are no baseball cheerleaders, we decided to do this. Now I just need to find some pom-poms.....:cheer2:

I have mixed feelings about dressing up. I am going to get the kids costumes and my DH has a funky pirate hat that he bought for pirate night. My friends will definitely NOT dress up. Although they claim to be disney experts...they don't get the whole spirit of it. The go every year, but don't enjoy the silly things. I told her about FE's and decorating the cabin door and she dismissed it....so I'm just going to make magnets for her door anyway. I'm going to get her to act like a kid if it kills me. As for a costume for me...dont' have a clue of what I'd be....we'll see.

I do get motion sickness.

I may get phenergan from the MD as the motion sickness can get very bad for me. I can take the phenergan at night w/ less side affects.

I didn't even think of motion sickness :scared1:

One more thing to do before the cruise :rolleyes1

I'm wondering about this, too, being a newbie and all...

I just ran to the door, Fed Ex was outside- but, of course, it was 125 white cotton napkins to be stamped at the craft fair I'm running in November..:headache: What a let down!!

Hey- for those of you with 9 year olds- what kind of sign-out priviledges are you planning on giving them? (From the clubs)

We're pretty leery of having a nine yr old with sign out priv :sad2: ...so don't plan to for now.

Our doctor suggested going with Bonine...says there isn't much difference, if any, between it and dramamine.

I was extremely sick when preg w/DD so bad that i had 2 er visits for dehydration. I was unable to keep even water down...first visit I got zofran...love that stuff  second trip they gave me phenegran, I could not even make it to the bathroom by myself, the nurse had to hold me up..:sad1: could be why I have decided 1 is a good number...:lmao:

Not a chance of letting my 10 year old DS have sign out priv's. I want to know exactly where he is at all times. Can't relax by the pool if I start worrying where he's wondered off to. :sad2:

As I awake to the pouing, driving rain, I can smile because... 5 weeks from today we'll be on the Magic!!!!!!!!!

Checklist:
*DD11 has settled into school, teacher pleased, preparing for vacation homework.

*Swim team... beginning of a new season, organization well underway, DD11 preseason practice for past several weeks, now it's time for the rest of the team to start official practice! NOTE: New head coach spent the last two years in St. Thomas. I asked her if we could do a week of winter training there:goodvibes I don't think that's going to happen:rotfl:

*Arrangements made for the guinea pig, and rabbit to "vacation" at a friend's house (hope they don't come home too spoiled!)

*Fish Extender "stuff" has arrived!

What's left? Throw some clothes in the suitcase, and let's go! OK, honestly, DW will do tons of stuff over the next few weeks. Thank goodness she keeps it under control!

to discuss the rest of the DCL plans.

The youngest kiddo had the NERVE to read over my shoulder yesterday :scared1:

I told her I missed Disney so I was reading other people's adventures. I am SOOO glad she doesn't know how to check my history on the computer. I would be outed and busted!

This is true ... I am reading about all the adventures people have to go through to get:

passports
dress clothes
formal clothes
FE bought off ebay or made
FE gifts & ideas for gifts
door magnet ideas
flight info
car info
hotel info
MNSSHP & who all is going
new clothes for the kiddos
an excuse for some Moms to get new clothes for themselves

and the fun part is MOST of the above I have been involved with too!

My box arrived from Land's End yesterday. DH had called me wanting to know if I spent almost $300 on clothes? Of course, it was me ... because:

1. ALL of the clothes were on sale
2. I had free shipping
3. the youngest kiddo outgrew the clothes I got for her this past spring:headache:
4. the kiddos wanted matching shorts & skorts which I was able to do this time:woohoo:
5. I bought them matching 2 sets of matching dresses for the cruise. I have to wash these & hope they both shrink a wee bit before the cruise.
6. Dh needed some new polo shirts for the cruise.

PS Did I forget to mention that I have a coupon from Liz Claiborne for $20 off a shopping trip? Gotta use that before Oct. 15th :yay:

embellishments for scrapbookers. It has a computer program that allows me to do lots of things to personalize my scrapbooks

I am having fun making things w/ my Cricut!

What is a cricut?[/QUOTE]

It's also a VERY BAD addiction!

When my twins were born 7 1/2 yrs ago, I decided to do a scrapbook for each of them. I think over the years I've down 3 pages in total and all my photos are either online on my computer or in a basket....I don't even have time to put them in an album....I thought it would be relaxing but I ended up getting stressed because I never had time to work on them....

I do have a questions though - I'm going out on this lovely rainy day to get the magnetic sheets to make door magnets. I'd like to do Disney ones with our names on them. Where do you get the artwork or the templates...I see people have great ones how did they make them.

I'm sure this has been answered many times....

   Thanks

I think that should work. Try it & let me know!

His Dis name is: I'mtooexcitedtosleep

He did name tags for my family. I just posted a new thread about making magnets. I hear the best thing to do is get QUALITY photo paper, print your images on the QUALITY photo paper and then place magnetic tape to the back of the paper. It's cheaper that way!

hope that helps,

I gave my sister a Creative Memories album w/ slide in pockets and journaling paper. She can slide the pix into the pockets and be done in a matter of minutes per page.

Mindelmouse,
On the main forum (Disney Cruise Line Forum) there is a designer named
Sandy that does these for you. All you have to do is request the names
you need and then print them out on Magnetic Paper. She just did some for
me this past week, they turned out great. Here is her post Cabin Door Signs - Character Names PLEASE READ 1ST POST.
Hope this helps, as we are not all that creative, she does any awesome job.

P.S. Sorry, I don't know how to put a link out to this.
