November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

So, quick survey:

Since baggage restrictions are limiting packing, what is everyone doing about dressing for Pirate Night and Formal Night. Looks like we will scale back on pirate night to make room for formal wear (I don't want to miss the lobster).

We will have nothing elaborate for Pirate Night. In the past our US Airways flight usually pulled a U-Haul with our luggage. Obviously, that won't be happening this time.

Hey guys, not doing so much for Pirate night. Can't see using up all that valuable luggage space for pirate crap! We did buy a couple of foam "pirate hats" from Michael's this past weekend and both DD decorated them with small "jewels" made like mickey heads. Figured those are easily packable and don't weigh anything...

I saw some of the pics of what people HAVE been wearing for Pirate night, and heck, some of the dresses would take up one suitcase in, and of, itself!! Truthfully, if you just do minimal pirate accents, and maybe wear red/black/gold you would be fine. They give out pirate bandanas at dinner, and the kids do face painting in their clubs before dinner. Save the suitcase space for formal night and all the stuff you'll end up buying!!!:rotfl2:

Are you guys making your own FEs, or ordering them on eBay, or do you have an FE supplier? I hear there is a good black market on swiped FEs from other cruises. Only works if your family has the same names though....:rotfl2: Sorry, really tired right now!!

Only 43 more days to go (and 41 til we leave for Disney!!) Anyone going to the MNSSHP the night or 2 before the cruise? We have done the party before, but couldn't see spending $200 to be in the park for a couple of hours and load up on candy. I have massages to pay for, you know? :rotfl: We are going to let the girls dress up on Halloween day (when we will be in EPCOT, and no where near MK!!!). They have picked out princess costumes, so they can also wear them on Princess day on board princess:

What a neat idea for the pirate hats. pirate:

I bought a striped shirt for myself along with black capris. Not sure what dh is wearing.

We won't be in FL til Fri. nite. Not planning on spending $200.00 for MNSSHP

Well... I guess we're one of the crazy ones doing MNSSHP on Halloween night. There's only 4 of us though... so we're not spending $200!

And Ellen... :thanks: for all your work on the FE swap!! I haven't gotten anything yet... so adding people is fine with me :)

We will also be doing the Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom with the other two families we are traveling with. We have never done it before and hear it can be very busy but we are prepared and will just go with the flow and expect the crowds. I think my kids will be more excited to go on rides and just be getting candy along the way.

You're welcome!:)

Add us to the list of going to MNSSHP on Halloween- I think it's going to be a blast, we've never done it before but know several people who have and they all thought it was awesome.

We had talked about going to MNSSHP but then we decided against it because we wanted to be well rested for the following day.
DH does not remember this conversation and asked the other day which night we were going to it, and was disapointed that we were not!
Well dear... Its sold out now. Sorry.
He was ok with it but a little disapointed because he had seen pictures of the characters in their costumes :goodvibes

We're doing MNSSHP on the 30th (6 weeks from today:cool1: ). I think it is worth the $ because you can get into the park at 4pm and do just about any ride you want. We did it back in 2005 and loved it. We'll just hang out at the pool in the day so that we save our park energy for the party.

For those of you who scrapbook and have a Cricut...

I was at WalMart last night and they had their Cricut cartridges marked down 50% (to $35) including the Disney ones. You may want to check it out.

That is $8 cheaper than I got online.

Too bad I didn't wait til now

O.K....another kook here. We'll be tramping along with the rest of you on Halloweenat MNSSHP. None of us have done it and I have to check it off the list of Disney things completed.
DS14 has Jack Sparrow costume that is killer impersonator. He did it at DS7's birthday last year and everyone asked who the guy was I rented, he was so good.
DS7 wants every costume that is HOT !! I keep telling him that FL Halloween is not the same as NJ Halloween, it's 60* hotter. They just don't get it and I'm not carrying the freakin mask, cape, and whatever else he strips off around...NOPE, UH AH, NADA, NOT HAPPENING <-mom's temper tantrum.
DH says he is in disguise as soon as he gets on vacation since he refuses to shave sometimes....:lmao: Besides told him scary enough without a costume.
Me personally.....I am disguising myself as a single woman with no children.. ..well it was a thought. I think the constant " MOMMMMM" may give me away. Still working on my costume.

Kinda reminds me of the Addams Family Movie, when Wednesday says "I'm a Homocidal Maniac, they look like everyone else" since she wasn't wearing a "costume" :lmao: Love that part....

Also, how much did you guys spend for tickets for MNSSHP? When we looked into it, they told us the tickets were about $48 per person, with no discount since it was on Halloween. So for the 4 of us, it came to $200! We did it a few years ago, and it was fun, GREAT Parade and the decorations and lights are totally awesome. Just rest up before hand, as you are DEAD tired (OK no pun intended) and after the park closes, its a HUGE wait for the buses and all to get back to your hotels!!

Can't wait, only 40 days til we leave!!!

That price sounds about right. Considering that is our day in the parks for that day, we felt it was worth it. We go and do all the rides and such, so we get a day in the parks (well, really a night 4pm-12am) rides, parade, fireworks, and candy.

Add us to the list of crazies going to MNSSHP on the 31st. DD is going as Ariel, her favorite and DH and I are going as Dr's (scrubs don't take up alot of suitcase space)...besides, not really that into the costume thing myself...I usually go as a tired mom...not much of a stretch to pull that off.:rotfl: :rotfl2:

I am pretty sure that the $48 was about right...can't remember actually. I bought them back in May. I figure airline fare was FREE, van rental after cruise FREE (all thanks to my massive usage of AMEX), Florida residency rate for room ( we have house in Port St. Lucie), and we had left over one day tix from previous trip...so SPLURGE it be.
This is going to be our last vacation of the extravagent type until DS14 is out of HS and done playing football. Coach owns us now and isn't happy he's missing last 3 games due to this trip....oh well. I figure when he's Varsity it'll count, right now he's Freshman and 2nd string, don't need him anyway.
Well back to costume shopping...:surfweb:
