November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

My smil (step MIL) wears black pants & fancy sequined tops for all the formal nights on the last 4 cruises. Except for her wedding to my fil, I have NEVER seen her in a dress.

I am thinking that will be the way I go too! One less pair of shoes to pack & I detest wearing panty hose~:scared1:

No pantyhose here, either!!! YUCK!!! About the only time I put those on anymore is if I'm skiing (for warmth) or going to church in the winter time. The rest of the time it's self-tanner or real tan and sandals! I'm dressing up in a gown and a cocktail dress for formal nights, renting DH a tux and buying DS's tuxs on ebay.

I was looking at Coolibar clothes for the upcoming cruise.

I just said to 1 of the kiddos: "Wouldn't this be great for Mommy to swim in :scared1: (I realized I almost blew the secret) later this summer?"

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Nice save!

Jenny:

I would love to have this personalized with our family info.

Is that possible?

I would also like to do iron ons for Family T-shirts. Which color would be best?

thanks SO much!

So, how do we use this wonderful logo for shirts/magnets/etc? Does anyone have a link to instructions?

Thanks- hope you're enjoyng summer so far-:beach:

Yeah, we are doing the 7 night western with all of you, (we booked a dummy cruise on the magic in 2006, and changed to this week when they released the dates)

and we just booked last month when they had the 1/2 deposit requirement special the land/sea trip for our god daughter.

what can I say... We are suckers for a Disney Cruise ;-)

For those of you looking for "Coolibar" or as we call them at the Jersey Shore "Rashguards". Try Old Navy, they have some really cute ones and another site is the famous "RonJons". Being we live right near the Original RonJons, my boys have gotten most of theirs from there, but Old Navy has some really cute ones. RonJons has sleeveless ones for older kids, yet it still protects. I have a DS redhead, so sunprotection is extremely important. I have not had one issue with either product.
We also frequent Key West and I know from experience that NOAD 50 Sunblock works the best, orange bottle. Also if you can find it, nosecoat from RonJons in natural/funky colors is great for those little noses/cheeks. It's what the lifeguards use.
Here's to catching some rays !!! :cool2:

WE HIT THE 4MOS MARK TODAY !!!!!!!!:woohoo:

Hi:

My name is Staci. My parents and I will be cruising with you on November 1, 2008. My aunt, Lisacarolr, and her family will also be on the cruise. Lisa has been telling me about this board, the yahoo group, and the fish extenders. I am so excited to go on the cruise.

Jen: Can you send me an invite to the Yahoo group? Thanks.

Welcome to the "Jersey Week" cruise, the " Election Castaways" and whatever else we are calling ourselves that week, other than NOT HOME !!:cool1:

Hi Staci! We are excited to go on the cruise, too!! Welcome aboard!

Glad to hear our #'s are increasing ;)

Glad to have your family joining the Election Day Castaways! I've added your family to the Castaway list on page one next to your aunt, Lisacarolr. Now we know who Lisacarolr's sister's family is!

Wuvtigger...Thanks for the reminder about "Absentee Ballots". After I saw your post I called our county election board. Our application arrived in the mail today!

Please check with your local voting precinct regarding your absentee ballot.

IF (and I hope there arn't TOO IF's) you aren't registered, google your town, county or burrough and get to it.

You want your vote to count.

PS: Please don't turn this into a political bashing on either side.

just a gentle reminder for everyone this 4th of July

"PS: Please don't turn this into a political bashing on either side. "

I'm sticking with the Sparrow/Barbossa ticket! ...unless a better pirate comes along:lmao:

Hope everyone is having a great Independence Holiday! Hard to believe, but Castaway Club members will be able to make Palo, spa, and excursion reservations in less than 30 days!

got some capri pants, a couple of tops but no shorts/skorts that I liked.

I guess I will have to go back again :lmao:

DH thinks I am nuts to be buying clothes for the cruise now, but really now is the time to get them. In a month or so when everything is on deep clearance then is the time to ADD the extras to your wardrobe, but if you NEED it, buy it now.
DH just does not get it.
Oh well, at least he lets me have my "disney box" for all the toiletry stuff I buy ahead.

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend what to do for our first visit to Key West on our Nov western? I want to stay away from the "adult" areas as we will be all together as a family. Is there an inexpensive trolly tour? I saw $20 each but was not interested in spending that much for 6 people.

How about Cozumel? We did tulum last time but may just stay close to the ship this time.

Thanks'
Bill

Being we frequent Key West yearly, we feel we are pretty good at what to do with the kids. DS7/DS13 usually are with us. As soon as you leave ship you are in Mallory Square. There is an aquarium within walking distance of ship. There is also the Pirate Soul Museum on Front St. within walking distance. Do not pay DCL's fees to enter, they are MUCH more expensive. You can also get a great bite to eat at the Rum Barrel attached, there is usually someone giving out coupons for drinks or museums on way. Check out their rum selection, it's amazing !! Duval St. is nice, but windows have some very adult themed items. Trolley is expensive and we felt very BORING. It will take you to Hemingway House ( if you are allergic to cats AVOID THIS ONE). The Truman Annex was o.k., but kids were BORED. The Butterfly House was nice, but HOT inside and again only took about 1/2 to do. The Southernmost Point Buoy is great for a pic, but lines sometimes are long and it's far from ship. You can take the glass bottom boat right from Mallory Square.
Most everything is in walking distance from ship, wear comfy shoes for Duval St. goes on forever. If you like to tourist ship, Duval is it, but again depending on kids ages, most windows have very suggestive T-shirts or head shop type items. That is worst I've seen that time of year.

DH wants/needs to see the Southernmost Point Buoy. That is THE only thing we have to do at Key West.

What's the best way to get there w/ 2 kiddos under 10

Wow, that is tuff..We usually have our own vehicle and park at the Butterfly Observatory and walk over to the Buoy and Southernmost House. You could have some real fun and rent an electric mini car to take you up there. It's a hoot to do. Basically Mallory Square is on the West side of Key West and Buoy on the East....it's a MAJOR walk. Trolley does take you there, but expensive. They have something called the "pink taxi's" you can grab. (305) 296-6666 is the phone number for the taxi company, they are expensive and I would call ahead of time to have them waiting at the dock for you. They also have rickshaw's....don't know how these guys peddle people all over town...wow they have some major calf muscles ! Hope this helps.

This is a great map of Key West to give you a heads up of where everything is located.

Our first DCL to Key West we went to the Butterfly Conservatory, and did the Conch Train. The tour was nice, and DD (5 at the time) promptly fell asleep. After dinner we went to Mallory Square for the festivities. They are...unique!

Our second DCL to Key West we did the Key West Trolley which we really enjoyed. We were able to get on and off at several stops. We stopped at the Hemmingway House. DD (6 at the time) loved the 6 toed kitties that roam the grounds. Of course we stopped for the obiligatory picture at the Southernmost point. We also stopped at the Key West Aquarium. It's small, but the highlights were DD got to pet a nurse shark, and feeding time for the larger sharks! We also stopped in Mallory Square near the ship to see "The Cat Man". This guy has trained house cats to do tricks. Pretty amazing! However, in our opinion the guy is a freak! Just bizarre!

On our upcoming cruise we hope to get "Chocoalate covered Key Lime pie" on a stick (My Dad always said things taste better on a stick!). Also, I would like to see President Truman's "Little White House". (I'm a history buff). Outside of that we have no plans!
