November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

On our upcoming cruise we hope to get "Chocoalate covered Key Lime pie" on a stick (My Dad always said things taste better on a stick!). Also, I would like to see President Truman's "Little White House". (I'm a history buff). Outside of that we have no plans!

The Key Lime on a stick is a MUST !! Somehow it tastes just better frozen and like you said " on the stick ". There is a cute little shop about 2 down from Hogs Breath Saloon that has these great BIG cookies that the kids love too. If you love coffee, the Bad A$$ Coffee Shop has some of the best we've had and unfortunately even as a chain store, we have none near us.
For the women...of course there is Coach and Birkenstock on Duval St. My DH and DS13 roll their eyes each time we approach for they know mom is headed straight for them. ( I have 62 pairs...:woohoo: ) o.k..I'm obsessed.
Mallory Square does have some interesting characters....and yes bizarre does describe some. Make sure you try to locate at least one family of chickens, hysterical to eat and watch them with chicks go walking past your table.
DID I SAY I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS TRIP YET....:yay:

wow!! 62 pr of birkenstock

That is more shoes than I could ever wear out :lmao:

Thanks for the great ideas. I will be making a file as I c&p everyone's ideas.

tfs!

62 pairs!!!!! Do they have their own room? :rotfl:

Who's planning on Palo? Brunch, dinner, tea? What day are you going?

I think we're doing brunch on the 1st sea day, and dinner on the second sea day, but I'm not sure yet. :confused3 Is anyone doing any spa stuff??
We're thinking we'll try the Rasul and each get a massage.

What can I say, I don't wear socks....I either have Uggs or Birkies. They have actually become an obsession. I have to have the newest style/color each year. I get a pair for birthday, xmas, easter etc.... I have to find a new pair now to go with whatever gown I find. Yes, Birkies come in very stylish dressy too !!! Not just hippie anymore:hippie:

We finally went today to get kids passports !! OMG, trying to get DH and I together at same time to do this was harder than deciding what to pack ! Now I need to shop for cruise...it's crunch time ! :surfweb:

I figure that I get to shop 2-3 more times for me before the cruise. :lmao:

The kiddos have been the focus on most shopping trips these past 8 years.princess:

Now it is Mommy shopping time

We want to do Brunch on the Key West day
High tea the first at sea day and Dinner the night of the master chef menu.
If we were not traveling with other people we would probably try for the night that we guess will be animators pallette as that is our least favorite menu, but our friends are first time cruisers and we want them to see the transformation.

We have big plans to use the rainforest room and snooze in the tile lounge chairs. DH loves the chakra balancing capsule so he will probably do that.

DH and I did the Rasul a couple of years ago before it changed it's name, and it was fun ;) bring a water resistant watch though. We didn't and after a while we wondered how long we had left and it was less relaxing.

I was thinking about doing the same Palo plans as you are, but I'm not sure if I could do the brunch on Key West day. I REALLY need to have the calamari at Margaritaville, when I was in Key West a few years back it was my FAVORITE food, we ate it every day, and I've been missing it ever since!!! Afraid the brunch will fill me up for the day!

What's the chakra balancing capsule? And thank-you for that EXCELLENT tip about the waterproof watch- I could see where that could put a damper on the fun at the end!:sad2:

By the way, when is everyone planning on arriving to the port? Early? Later? Just trying to decide when to have the limo pick us up- Thanks!

We're pretty much planning the same Palo events as you are....Brunch at Key West, High Tea 1st day at sea but not sure what night is the Master Chef menu? Any help? Thanks!

Unless they change it, the master chef menu should be on Tuesday night (Grand Cayman)

The chakra balancing capusle is like an aroma therapy/relaxation thing that 20 minutes is supposed to be as restful as ?2? hours of sleep.
DH loves it.

Oh- I am definitely booking that for DH and maybe myself, too. Just this morning, as usual, he was saying how exhausted he is. Thanks for the great tip, Athene!:flower3:

Thanks for the info...gosh you all have a lot of insight. Since I booked the REAS, I was wondering if the turndown service can be scheduled? Reason I'm asking is if the Oceaneer Club has a Camp Out Night, Would like to lockstep with that if I could find out when it is.

:thanks:

On another topic, finally got our FE made and wanted to share. Thanks to Jennie for letting us use your design:

With the REAS I believe they typically do the romantic turndown service the night that you go to Palo for dinner.

I can't sew a button on anything !! I need someone to make me a Pirate themed FE....anyone do this type of work? I'll pay of course. I love the embroidered style, that is so cool. I have Paypal and would work it out. PM me at janineclapper@aol.com .

Question: What's the Master Chef Night all about????

I am also trying to decide what days would be the best to do brunch and dinner at Palo.

My family and the Miller Family are getting a van to take us from our Disney Resorts to the port and plan on getting there early.... not sure how early but earlier than the Disney buses got us there the last three cruises. Getting a van is saving us over $100.00 than using Disney Transfers.

As for the cruise shopping I think I am almost done as far as the kids go except for some nice shirts/suit for my son and husband. I just had my appendix out 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and am out of work for 6 weeks (go back on Aug 4th unless I get the Dr. to give me an extra two weeks) pixiedust: I will be working on that at my next appoinment. When I went shopping on Monday they aleady have the back to school stuff out!:scared1: The summer stuff is on clearance already so it's time to stock up.....:yay:

Master Chef is the menu that is served that night.
you can go to the castaway club website and they have sample menus.

We are taking the DCL transfers from the POFQ mostly for the convenience of having them take the luggage from our rooms and not having to worry about it. That and when we bring our own luggage to the port, DH ends up being a pack mule with heavy carry on's (Don't ask me why, but it has always worked out that way) and not being able to get into our rooms and lugging the stuff all around is no fun for him. when they take our luggage from our room we just seem to plan better.
Now that we can pre-book just about everything, we don't even really care about getting to the port early. I think part of it is that we have done the hurry up and wait thing and we just find it more relaxing to get there a little later.

I have always used the Disney transfers..... so what does that mean for our luggage? I know we will have to bring it into the port renting a van but they will take it to our stateroom for us right? The Disney Bus is very convenient but it saves me money renting a van... and I have not booked our airfare yet and I am getting very nervous... I was planning on flying Spirit but the return home is $294.00!:scared1: That is crazy! I am hoping that they drop some what but I doubt it. I am even willing to fly out of PHL or Newark but still no good deals. Did everyone pretty much book their airfare yet?
