November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

 ....Called AAA today to say we didn't receive any info yet. Was told usually sent out 2 weeks prior to departure. I had to remind them we are going down early....I am losing patience with not having it all in front of me ready to go. I so want to pack now.
Had major set back on getting ready however, while painting DS7's room prior to leaving, hubby tripped and knocked over ENTIRE gallon of VERY BLUE paint on light tan carpet !! :scared1:   sums up my emotions at time. Sooo, now we are tearing it up and trying to figure out whether to go back to carpet, go wood, tile....oh I don't need this stress !!!!

LBI,
I'd go with a laminate wood. I have that in my family room and it stands up perfectly to my 10 and 6 year old.....not a scratch in 3 years and easy to keep clean!!! Carpet wears out too quickly and stains easily.
Anyone sending a box to the ship? I wanted to send down a box that had some snack contents in it. Is it a problem to send food? Some of it will be chocolate...do you think where they hold it would be hot and make it melt? I just didn't want to carry these items in a carryon with me onto the ship. Tell me what you think, please!!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: So sorry about your carpet! Oy, that's just stress that no one needs. :sad1:

MNSSHP - We'll be wearing our wristbands too!

Shipping Packages - How does this work? I'm just confused as to when you would ship a package to the ship for the cruise? When is too early, when is too late?

We've shipped several times to the ship, both to Florida and California. I'd think twice about sending chocolate, its going to be held in a warehouse in FL before delivery to the ship on sailing day.

I usually ship (UPS) about 3 weeks in advance so that the package gets there about a week in advance. That way if there's any delay on the way down you're not cutting it too close. Just adjust the schedule based on how long it will take from where you're starting from. With UPS you can track the package and know exactly when it gets to the destination. Sometimes the package will be in the cabin when you first get in, before the luggage, other times it's been delivered along with the luggage.

With the package getting to the port so far in advance, do they just keep it safe somewhere at the terminal? Sorry, I just think this is great they do this, and I had no clue that it was something we could even do. It's just neat. :goodvibes Thanks in advance!

ETA: Oops, nevermind.. I tend to read way too fast. I see it's held in a warehouse in Florida. Sorry! Thanks! *feels embarassed* :upsidedow

Please Mister UPSman, look and see, oh yeah
If there's a DCL box in your truck for me...

This will be my fourth Disney Cruise and we have always gotten our documents 2 weeks prior to leaving. I am trying not to get my hopes up that I will get it any sooner! But it would be really nice!!! It would be even nicer if I got upgraded!:cloud9:

So did anybody get an upgrade?

I check my reservation daily and no luck so far here. Didn't get an upgrade last time either. Oh well, I booked a cabin I know that I like so it won't bother me.

No documents, no airline information, no absentee ballot, nothing at all ... sigh.

Been keeping busy looking at excursions and such - keeping our eyes on the prize.

We are waiting for our friends who booked a guarantee stateroom to get their assignment!

No upgrade here, but I doubt we'd get one. I booked two *connecting* Cat 6 rooms, so I think my chances of being upgraded are close to none.

I also didn't book a GTY. Does that matter when they consider upgrading someone?

PS - SO FREAKING EXCITED!!! I can't even sit still at work! :cheer2:

I think that with the GTY you have a better chance of being upgraded, but of course it is not a Guarantee!

We don't WANT an upgrade for our room We like our SPH room. The location is great and the little bar that "obstructs" our view is nothing to worry about!

We just want to know WHERE our friends are in relation to our room.
They booked the Cat 12 GTY because it was the cheapest avalible and are happy with whatever they end up with.

When we've had a gty, we usually got our assignment 4 weeks prior, so I think your friens should know within the next week. I'd love an upgrade from our cat 11, but we are across from my mom's room and I want to stay close. Wouldn't it be nice to be upgraded to the balcony room next to hers...in my dreams!

Next month at this time our family will be relaxing at the Wilderness Lodge! :cool1: Our vacation will be here before we know it!:yay:

Next month at this time our family will be getting ready to head to the MK for MNSSHP. 4 weeks from right now we will be on the plane about ready to land in Orlando. :yay: :yay: :yay:

that's why I bought category 4 to begin with....what are the olds there are suites available and that I'd actually get one.. I put money away every week for a year and a half just to be able to afford it....I'm a little bit on the closterphobic (sp?) side...so I couldn't do a small cabin - and never an inside one.:cheer2:

I will be trying NOT to spill the beans to the kiddos about the trip. :rolleyes1

4 Fridays from now I will be packing w/ dh while the kiddos are at a fall celebration for 4 hours.

Stops in front of my house, I run out the door, and I get.....

Dh's new tuxedo. DAMN!

Ok, that's not soooo bad, it's still cruise related, and it looks nice and all...but, I need some Disney NOW!!!!! :rotfl: My kids are all off for a couple of days, so I'm housebound, and I can think of nothing else but this cruise!! Well, at least I'm goal oriented and focused!!:thumbsup2 :rotfl:
