November '08 ~ What Do You Mean It's Over? Should we plan another???

No I'm from New York. Your comments about Charleston make sense, though. I sometimes have to remind myself that New York is full of tourists because it is a vacation destination, and at that, for people from all over the world. It reminds me that I'm lucky to be from there and still live relatively close and be able to go "home" to it all the time with minimal expense. Including the holidays, last weekend was the fourth trip there this year for my girlfriend and me.
Actually, I've been all over the country, some on vacation, some on business trips. Before I got my doctorate and became a professor, I worked for my father and his exhibit business. Sometimes that meant the woodshop, sometimes that meant traveling to the shows either on my own or with my father. When I went to Wyoming, it was after a business trip to Denver. My father and I returned through Wyoming, Idaho, Montana and South Dakota before "Interstating" it the rest of the way. It was a memorable trip. The landscapes are amazing out there, the sky really is enormous (it sounds like a cliche until you're actually there looking up at it), there are wild buffalo, grizzlies and black bears, grey wolves and mountain lions, and when we were in Montana, it was the first week of July and it was snowing!
I remember one spot in particular. There's a field of wildflowers directly before the Snake River, and on the other side of the river the Tetons shoot straight up. It's breathtaking. You'll have a wonderful time, I'm sure!

I am so sick of snow. I hate it. We are in Pittsburgh now, but-

We lived in Rochester NY for three years. Much like you in Albany, we had our share of the white stuff. Being a Carolina Girl...it was quite a shock to my beach girl system.

I am begging DH to find a job back down south. Maybe one day we will be closer to home. Florida would be perfect.

Don't worry. It's unlikely to snow in Jackson Hole in the heart of the summer. Where we were in Montana was a different world altogether.
I know how you feel about the North. Winters are very difficult. I moved to Buffalo for graduate school after doing my undergraduate work in Virginia. That winter, there was a storm where the city was hit with 77 inches in 5 days. The city ran out of room for it all, and purchased space in supermarket and mall parking lots. There were remnants of that snow in June. The positive is that the summers are GLORIOUS (even better in the Hudson Valley, really), but come the end of March I was losing my skull.
Even so, I don't want to be anywhere near Florida in the summer. I'd rather suffer through the winter months than struggle to breathe for four months of the year! It is tempting, though, when the weather is poor. On the heels of a week straight of beautiful weather in Orlando, last December was vicious here in Albany, and I quipped to my girlfriend about moving to Disney World!

It official Poly Nov 8 to 16. We will see if I stay at the PR usually they release some deal to entice me to stay somewhere else, but palm trees and tiki torches sound good to me.

UGH! I feel "Disney Planning" deprived this week. I am trying to finish up my Math class and my Psychology class and so I have been working on it a lot this week. I need to finish 4 more Math "lectures" and homework assignments today. And tomorrow I am going to take my last test before the final and I am taking my Psychology Final tomorrow as well. Then I can focus on My Math final and the last of my computer class. Then I will have a month before the Summer courses begin. I am taking English Comp (YUCK!) and another Math course. The math is no problem, but English is my least favorite subject.

I've been knee deep in planning this week. We are checking in on a Saturday and I think I have everything from Saturday through Tuesday finalized. I've been working on my Epcot plan today and I know it needs tweaking. Will do a little more later.

I guess I am just waiting until the park hours and EMHs come out to do more planning. I don't know how to plan without them. I know that I won't be at Epcot on the 9th since that is the last day of F&W Festival. I also think the last day of Soap's Super Weekend is the 9th so we won't go to DHS that day. I need to figure out what Veteran's Day crowds are like since that is on the 11th.

I also am trying to decide if a MVMCP is worth it. I can't decide!!! What do you all think about the party? My older boys are going to be 12 and 10 when we go. So for me that is 4 adult tickets and 2 child tickets. That is $250 extra. Everyone says it is worth the money because of how easy it is to get on rides, and also that MK would close eary if not going to the party. I have park hoppers so I could just go to a different park. I just don't know????

The party doesn't interest us. There's so much other stuff to do and I'm already dropping enough cash on this vacation, I don't want to shell out a couple more hundred. Of course, the youngest in our party will be 17 when we go. Your kids are younger and if they're into the Christmas/Mickey thing, it may be worth it. I have a friend who lives in FL and they take their boys every year.

Welcome!!! We will be there during that same time. We are staying at ASMusic. I think this is going to be a great time to go. We always go in June. I am so excited to have lower crowds and lower temps.

Most all of you have the countdown tickers. How do you make them? I went to the tech board and I must be looking in the wrong place or something because I couldn't find the answer.
