November '08 ~ What Do You Mean It's Over? Should we plan another???

I just called WDW travel, several times, and when I inquired if there was a code for me, the CM said, my dates were blocked out. So, there IS a CODE? And he said, yes, the 40%.

SO WHAT DATES CAN I USE? (I was practically jumping up and down)

Long story short I settled for Dec 10-19. The 19th I'm paying full price. But that's ok!

I got 10 days at POR room only for under 1000.

Needless to say, DH is thrilled.

Yay for all of you that got codes

We NEVER get codes. Disney knows we will just give them all our money anyway! I made dh call again to just check but no such luck. Oh well.

We are considering changing resorts. I have always wanted to stay at POFQ, it looks lovely. BUT... last trip we stayed at Poly and I gotta tell ya - it's really nice having that monorail right there. And when we go we will have a 3 year old and an infant. It's sooo much more money though and I wanted to do a more budget trip this time. Dh said if we stay at POFQ we can rent a car so it will probably be ok. Also, just to be difficult, I have been thinking about AKL too. Decisions, decisions!

Ooooh, congrats!!! Where are you staying? Let me know and i'll add you to the ever growing list.

I haven't decided yet. When my wife and daughter go with me, we usually stay at the Pop Century (just got back from there last month). However, I'm thinking of upgrading to a moderate for this trip. Maybe the Caribbean Beach Resort or Port Orleans Riverside.

There is always the mousesavers website. I usually can find a code over there to use. I did last year. That saved me $800. I had 2 rooms booked at Pop Century.

Plus. I called many times this past week. Either I finally asked the right questions or got a CM with a clue that recognized I had a code attached to my name. That was never implied though. I just asked if there was a 40% code and the CM said not for my dates. Then the questions followed. There is a code? What dates can I use to get the codes, etc. Just be persistant. I was determined. 10 days for a family of 6, tickets, and food add up.

I don't understand how this whole code thing works. I just call WDW and ask if there is one for my dates?? If there is does it just get applied to my reservation or do I have to cancel and get a new one? If I ask them will they know what the heck I am talking about??

Also, my reservation~8 nights-7 day park hoppers at the Pop was 1567$. I checked to see what the price was if I bought the tickets and room separately and it was 40$ cheaper. Does anyone know why this is before I call and make a fool of myself?? I was a bit shocked they don't cut some off the price if you get a package.

Thanks! Thats what I was able to do last year. I think I got 30% off :yay:
As of right now I have a room only reservation with a aaa discount but I am sure I will change that at some point.
Half the fun of trip planning is scoping out the deals!!

Is anyone else considering going without the DDP this year? As of right now we don't have it. I was thinking with a toddler and an infant that I might have to cancel some adrs last minute and I would hate to lose the credits. Plus we are planning to eat at a bunch of places this time that are not worth it on the DDP.
We want to do Brown Derby, CRT bf, Tea at the GF and Plaza for sure - all not worth it on the ddp. The rest of our meal will probably be mostly charactor buffets. I have to have a sit down meal every day :snooty:

DDP is very worth it for me but we will have 6 or 7 in our party; the youngest will be 16.

As for codes....when you call you have to ask the right question at the right time. I called twice. The first time I called the guy took all my trip info first; then said I had no code. So I called back. The second guy said what kind of trip are you planning? I replied "That depends on my code". I gave him my name and address and NO OTHER TRIP INFO until he relayed whether I had a code & he finally conceded that I had 40% off but had to use it by mid-March this year. It's all in the timing. I wish they'd just be up front about it, but I guess they need to try and rake in all the moolah they can.:rolleyes1

I booked a room only at POR from Nov 28-Dec 7. I asked then if there was a code. Nothing.

I booked it with the AAA discount. Gave me about 20% off.

I kept calling and asking questions. Always ended with, is there a code available to my name.

I changed my ressie a few times, cause I was going to do a split stay at the CR.

I even did add 2 nights at the CR. Still nothing.

Then I had babysitting questions. I called again. Ended with my usual question about the code but this time asked specifically about the 40% code. That's when I got it.

Some people are convinced it has something to do with ordering the planning DVD. Which I did, so there may be a link who knows.

ILMickey: Don't ask if there's one for your dates. Ask if there's one for your name. Then, if you are flexible and there is one, you can change your dates to fit where the code can work for you.

Elly: I'm not sure that you lose credits if you don't show. I never heard of that. They can't take credits away from you. I do know that special show type meals that require a CC at time of making your ADR can charge you for your missed meal. But I never heard of taking credits away from you. Trust me, they will fill your seats asap!

We just decided to do the dinning plan. DH doesn't want to be ruled by ADR's this trip. I'm still making them, knowing that if we don't make one, that's ok. I can't live on counter service. No way! I still think only paying 38 dollars the whole day to eat is worth it. and 10 for the kids. We might just use more CS anyway, no tipping to worry about there. Just my 2 cents.

OK, about these codes. (I'm still not understanding these)

I booked a package through AAA. Would there be a code with my name? Is it for people that book room only? And the 40%. Is that off of room rates or the whole trip? Someone please explain! I would hate to pass up a code that would save me 40%!

Also, the only way you get them is to call Disney and ask if there is one by your name?

The 40% are for booking through Disney only. I've read that some lucky people got emails or postcards advertising their discount. I had to call and ask if I had one. I think the 40% is for room only but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The 40% is for room only.

You can still keep the 40% if you turn it into a package. Which I did.

The CM said, I had to do the package soon so not to lose the code when I did turn it into a package. There were so many package codes left. Which still only give you the 40% off the room portion. Any that's still a good deal.

I wanted the package for the dining plan.

:wave2:
Been busy, busy, planning and organizing.

Hope everyone is well.
Tried many different times, many different ways to get a code... DH wants to upgrade for the entire time t the PoLY, but only if we get a code. No such luck.
Gonna call today and see if it's attached to any of our previous addressess...we have lived at three different places in the last year.:)

Jo

Good Luck Jo!

We will be adding another to our ressie. To make a long story short, we're becoming guardians over a girl my daughter goes to school with. Nice kid, practically lives here anyway so not a big change. Never been to WDW so she's estactic.

Other than that, haven't been doing too much planning wise. My DD1's boyfriend and I were scouring youtube for Animal Kingdom videos. He's never been to WDW and of course is interested to find out some things.

if you have cable tv every few weeks on the travel channel you have disney worlD videos and one just on animal kingdom,go to travel channel .com for next showing ENJOY:woohoo:

Hooray, Hooray, HOORAY!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :yay: :dance3: :woohoo: :cloud9:

We got the 40% code! We have been calling every day and no luck. Today dh called and was very specific and it was available to us for October! We wanted Poly GV but it was not available BUT we got Grand Floridian for 40%
off Oct 25-nov 1rst. We stayed there in 2006 and we loved it so we are thrilled! Being on the monorail is going to make traveling with a three year old and a 6 month old so much easier.
Now I have to start planning our costumes for MNSSHP!

Congratulations! Good deal. Someday I'll get up the courage to stay at GF. That place kind of intimidates me ;)

I got invited to join this thread since we are going in November. (November 9-21st) When we go my boys will be: 12, 10, 5 and 5. We are getting the DDP. I also got a 40% off code in an e-mail that I used for the room only part of my package. We are staying at ASMusic Family Suite.

Welcome tnmomof4! We'll be in the world at the same time. We're staying at AKV from November 8-15. Congrats on the code!
