Nov. 2011

We are planning a November or early December trip in 2011. Is it better to go before Thanksgiving or after? I don't want to miss the decorations but I want to avoid Pop Warner and the taping of the parade.

That depends on what you want to enjoy. Before Thanksgiving you can enjoy the F&W at Epcot & Christmas activities at MK & DHS. MVMCP & Osborne Lights start 11/8. However, the CP starts 11/25 this year. I think that's Thanksgiving weekend. Crowds would be there for that weekend & closer to Christmas. I think Pop Warner is the first week of Dec. I'm sure someone knows for sure. Good luck!! :goodvibes

Got the November "Game On" 30% resort only discount pin Thursday nite...

illuminations holiday also starts on 11/8 right?

It has never started that early in the past. The only activities that happen early are MVMCP and Osborne Lights. Epcot (Illuminations, CP, Holidays around the World) has always started after Thanksgiving.

The holiday stuff at Epcot doesn't even start going up until after Food & Wine ends on 11/13. I'd be very surprised if the holiday Illuminations show started before Thanksgiving, when the Candlelight Processional and holiday storytellers start.

Patiently waiting... We booked our airfare last night (wanted to lock in that price) and now we are just going back and forth over the room...

I somewhat think that after 4 trips to Disney World and 1 trip to Disneyland in the last 5 years, it is time for a great pin code :)

I finally got a PIN code...For DisneyLAND. :sad1: LOL!

We'll keep patiently waiting. Keeping our fingers crossed for a room only or AP discount. The savings could buy us a few extra Dole Whips.

At any rate, we're going to Disney World!!! :yay:

I'll be arriving on 11-11-11 which is Veteran's Day. As always, I'm hoping for a deal of some sort.

I wonder IF they offer a discount, if it will EXCLUDE or INCLUDE Veteran's Day?

Have they ever offered a FREE DINING discount while the F&W Festival was going on?

We are arriving at 11/10. Based on last year, one of the free dining windows started on the Friday, which would be 11/11. (Last year 11/12/10.) However, with Veteran's day on a Friday this might not be the case. It could start Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Check out my PTR (link in my signature) to see options for what to do in those cases - the post where I talk about hotel options.

See you there!

We will also be there November 10th - taking advantage of that Friday being Veteran's day & the kids getting an extra day off school!
Also hoping for free dining and playing the numbers game of trying to figure out what to do if free dining is offered but not starting until that Friday/Saturday or Sunday!

Our dates are also starting 11/10.....never thought about Veteran's Day!!! Ok.....all of you who have been there before over that weekend, tell me what kind of crowds are we to expect. :confused3

Pop Warner is the 2nd week of December....I've been the monday after thanksgiving thru the 1st sat in December in both 2008 and 2009 and they were not there until the last day. In other words, they usually come in on the 1st sat in December and stay thru that next week. Also avoid MK on that 1st Saturday (which is when they usually tape the parade unless it rains, which it did in 2009 so they had to do it sunday or monday) and you should be fine. Last few days of November/first week of December is my favorite time to go. My BFF may be backing out on me for this year (I'll find out within the next week) but I've got my folks lined up as a backup. :thumbsup2 I didnt get to go last year so I'm bound and determined to go this year! A good discount on the room or free dining would be great....I guess its a good thing for me that its taking forever for them to come out with the discounts since I dont know for sure who I'm going with (which affects where I stay....folks prefer a moderate for the bigger beds and my BFF prefers POP because its cheap and we get our own beds anyway).

Come on free dining! Don't rain on my Disney parade!! :cheer2:

Well, it's almost August... Maybe, just maybe we'll see the fall discounts soon? Anyone heard any rumors of when to expect them?

I've been pricing off site hotels just in case free dining isn't offered. Though we really really want to stay "in the magic", that may be what we end up doing. :sad2: But, at least we'll still get to take the kids this year. Wasn't sure we were going to get to go at all. So, I won't be too negative if we must opt for the offsite hotel...

I cross my fingers every day that I'll log on and hear the "news" though... lol I also check my 3 email accounts several times a day just in case I somehow end up with a pin code. No luck so far... but I'll keep watching.
