We returned Friday evening from our first trip as DVC Members.
We stayed at OKW. Saturday evening on cash reservation, Sun - Thurs. points in a 2 bedroom.
My only request from now on for our family of 4 will be non-smoking, but with my mother with us (she has mobility issues), we asked for first floor near HH (had no plans for car).
At the last minute, DH decided he wanted a car. We had signed up for ME, so the other 6 of us did ME while he went to Thrifty to pick up minivan.
ME went very smoothly. We had a bit of trouble finding them - quite a ways away from baggage claim, but I got in line while others sat and waited. The line was long, (11:00 a.m. on a Saturday) but took no more than about 10-15 minutes. Check-in was quick and we went to stand in line. We were first in line at OKW - SSR line, so I assume a bus had just left. We loaded a Mears bus (no movies) within 5 minutes with POR, POFQ, SSR and OKW. SSR was our first stop (no takers), we were second at OKW. Total time from landing to OKW was probably 90 minutes (could have been less but my DM doesn't move quickly through airport). DH was waiting for us. He had just arrived approx. 5 minutes before us.
Check in was a breeze, but of course room wasn't ready (didn't expect it to be). Had a wonderful lunch at Olivia's and walked around for a little bit. When the room still wasn't ready by 2:00, we decided to go to MK. Picked up a complimentary length of stay wheelchair from concierge for DM, loaded it and stroller in car and headed off to MK for haircuts.
We got to park just as afternoon parade was starting around train station hub. Were able to stand right at rope and watch parade. Then headed to barbershop. We were numbers 2&3 in line. Beverlene cut DS11's hair and Michel cut DD6's hair. She went in with a pony tail and came out with very short hair. She told Michel she wanted it the length of mine, but hers is much shorter. Had serious gender identity problems for the rest of the trip, but it's only hair and it will grow.
before
after.
We then walked around and did a few rides in Adventureland. We were all quite tired and left the park by 6:30 p.m. A quick trip to Chick-Fil-A and we were back for a wonderful "Welcome Home", still no groceries
, and a wonderful night's sleep.
