Nov.1 2009 on the Wonder! it's never too early to chat!the

Hi Caroline,

My DD is 7 and also loves to meet new friends. I think she probably knows more people than I do!

Very cool that there will be a lot of NJ people on board. I have lived in Orlando for the last 15 years, but was born and raised in NJ so I will always be a Jersey girl at heart. :)

What part of NJ? I'm all the down near Cape May. I can't wait to meet everyone. Should we designate a spot in the terminal for those who want to meet?

Just congragate around the family in Green T-Shirts and one of them is holding a Green Mickey Head on a Green Paint Stick! I think my 6yr old DS will proudly be waving that thing around!

Thanks for the Halloween ideas. I reckon we will head to DTD. Just hope the kids don't get scared. I have been showing them some photos and DS3 has declared he does not want to go anywhere near the scary pumpkins.

Don't mean to sound dumb here, but how does trick & treating work? I gather that the kids get lollies/candy, but do they need a bag? Any other info for a Halloween newbie would be appreciated.

Disney really does a great job for Halloween and they keep it little kid friendly.
I've only gone to the Halloween party in the Magic Kingdom and there they give you bags to use for trick or treating. You walk up to the different trick or treat areas and they put candy in your bag. I'm not sure as to what types of candy they will give out as it can vary. You should bring a bag just in case they dont give them out in DTD. It's a lot of fun.

I'm from Fort Lee (northern NJ); we used to go to Wildwood Crest and Cape May in the summers when I was a kid. I still miss NJ sometimes, just not the cold in the winter!

I am shooting to get to the terminal at 10am when it opens, but that will all depend on if we are packed the night before and how fast we can get up and going in the morning! I don't think I have a lime green shirt, but my DD does. I just told her some people were wearing green, and she said she will wear hers. :)

Does daylight savings time start on our Sail Day? If So, that will help getting up in the morning! An extra hour of sleep, especially after staying up till midnight for the MNSSHP!!

Bonah, I don't know if I got this to you, the one with the ipod, so posting it here just in case you didn't get it.

FE Master List has been PM'D to ALL Paticipants!!!!Let me know if you did not get it!

I started a Pre trip report which will also end up BEING my Trip report.
Thought I'd do it to keep me on task with things that have to get done,
and it will be an instant journal of all we do for afterwards.

Letters to my kids school were typed up today, so thats one more thing off my list.
Does anyone else work with actual lists?, MY DH occasional laughs at my lists!

Thanks again, tjbaggott, for putting all the FE stuff together. :)

I did start a packing list because there are a bunch of things I don't want to forget. I figure as long as we bring our passports, though, we will be on the ship!

I have a few more things I need to do/decide:

I am thinking about canceling my Comfort Suites reservation and skipping the Atlantis pool, etc. I am really wanting to relax on this vacation, so I was thinking of just getting off the ship for a little while to check out Nassua, walk around a little bit, and then getting back on the ship by noon or so. I keep going back and forth on this one.

Also, I just realized I don't have anything for my door. I have a few Mickey heads, but I want to put a few other things on there. The problem is I am artistically challenged! I need to get some magnets or magnetic paper, too.

What I do for magnets is I print my graphics onto white cardstock, them have them laminated. Then I put adhesive peel and stick magnets onto the backs. Voila, my door magnets and it was less costly than the price of magnetic paper was here in our stores.
I'd be happy to do up some graphics for you. Click on the link in the bottom of my posts to go to my photo bucket album. In there check out the REQUESTS section to see what I can make, then choose whatever and as many as you want. I can personalize them and pm them back to you. (or do the same by visiting the Cruise magnets and graphics links thread.).

OMG I'm so excited! I started with my mom's FE since I've never made one I figured if I messed up hers was smaller and less material to replace. I'm so happy so far. I still have to add her name and I'll probably put the year on there. Then just hang it on the rod and I'm done. Now I need to get to the store for some red and black embroidery thread so I can start ours. I have cut out the pieces and put the stabelizer behind it but it needs to be embroidered and sewn. I also got notes into both schools now. Woohoo! Now lets hope they approve it not like it will make a difference whether we go or not.
I had to laugh at your list comment:rotfl: Do I have a list? LOL I have lists of my lists of my lists LOL. I have lost my mind lately. I'll be in my bedroom and think of something to add to my list and by time I get to the kitchen I've forgotten already. I could not live without my lists. I have a to do list, to buy list, to make list, and it goes on and on.

LOL, I'm right there with you! I make my kids packing lists when they go for camp, asking them to check everything off before they come back home, to make sure they don't leave anything behind. I never see that list again! Why I bother, I don't know.
On my current list I had "TO DO" to sew one pirate shirt by last night. It never happened. DD came up from the basement early evening, excited and yelling and holding something in her hand. A TINY BABY MOUSE!!!!!:scared1:
THen DH told me he set traps and caught two BIG mice in them the other day day. I looked at the baby, and said "IF THERE'S ONE, THERE'S MORE!" Knowing these things could not survive on their own, I don't want DEAD BABY mice in my basement here and there. So we spent the rest of the evening looking for and collecting more baby mice. We found 6 in all, do you think thats it? How many babies can a momma mouse have in one litter? So they are all in a hamster cage. One escaped over night and died, we found it this morning behind the dryer. DH wanted me to put them all in a garbage bag :scared1: I know some could do that, but I just can't kill an animal no matter how disgusting they are (bugs are a different story though, LOL). If they die on their own thats one thing, but I won't kill them! DD is feeding them kitten formula from an eye dropper. If any do survive (I doubt they will as they are way too little yet), I'll take them to my friends farm and set them loose in her barn.
NOW to get back to working on my TO DO LIST.
LIFE IS DISTRACTING!:rotfl2:

Yikes! Well I hope they live since your dd is working so hard for them. Today I cleaned out the kids drawers and put away summer stuff and brought out all the sweaters and stuff. I had to get a little caught up on the house stuff since all my attention has been on vacation stuff lately. I think when the kids get home from school though I might have my older dd watch the kids and head down to get the thread I need for my fish extender. I'm anxious to get it done. I have a sleepover/bday pty for my 6yo this wkend Fri and Sat and cheerleading for her on Sun so I won't get a lot done at all this wkend. She's just having her two female cousins come over and I'm going to take them all to build a bear and let them make a bear and then take them to eat. She won't have a real party because we'll be on the cruise for her bday. Then Sat we will have cake for her, and my niece and nephew who will all celebrate their birthday at Disney this year. My sister and her family are doing the parks with us but not the cruise. I'm hoping to get my iron ons done this wkend but that's if I can find tshirts while I'm out tomorrow. My sister also wants help making a prince and pinocchio costume for her kids and she leaves for Disney the 22nd so I better get moving.

A have a few ?? for everyone...

First my oldest DD (Sarah-15) wants to know if any of the other teens are into Harry Potter. She is a bit on the obsessive side. :rolleyes1

And has anyone ever watched either "The Watcher in the Woods" or "Something Wicked This Way Comes?" They are both Disney. My DD 10, well 11 as of today (I still think of her as 8:rotfl2:) is having a sleepover Saturday and wanted to watch a scary movie. I bought both of these movies, but was aondering if anyone knows which one is less scary of the two. We shall see if anyone ends up sleeping over after the movie. :lmao:

I my just use a Trick-or-Treat bag as a fish extender. The only other time I did an FE was around Christmas and a great DISer gave out stockings that we used. Think it will be tacky since Halloween will be over? I guess I will see if I can get motivated to make on.;)

Any moms (or dads) going at the trip alone, and anyone travelling solo, let me know if you want to get together at any of the adult activities. They are a lot more fun as a group. Actually, this would include anyone who wants to get together! :thumbsup2

Not travelling solo but I might still take you up on this! DH isn't that into the adult type activities they have on board. I'll do my best to drag him to a few, but beyond that, I'll be on my own, especially in the evenings. I do have my DD18 who is still very much a teen (why they are called adults at that age I have no clue), but at least she is old enough to tag along with me to some of the adult events.

As for Harry Potter, although my teens love watching the each new movie, they are more into Twilight! New Moon is in theatres shortly after we are back home from vacation, so DD has made me promise I will take her to that. Know what? I wouldn't miss it for anything!

Looks like our girls all have something in common. Ashley loves both Harry Potter and Twilight. She was reading the Twilight series before it became trendy LOL. She loves to read.
