Nov.1 2009 on the Wonder! it's never too early to chat!the

My 16 year old son now tells me he needs SHORTS! Hmmmm, couldn't he have told me this at the beginning of the season? Sure things are on clearance NOW, but it's always hard to find the size you need. Oh, well, I'll take him out tonight because he will definately be needing these for Disney and the cruise.

Any idea on how dressed up we have to get for dinner? I know we have the pirate night for one but, the other 3 nights i'm not sure about.

I'm wondering if we're going to have to pick some clothes up too.

I need to get some clothes for myself too. I don't even have a bathing suite. I was in the store the other day and all the winter stuff was out already so I better get moving. I got the 3 youngest girls the cutest sailor outfits for the first day, can't wait to get some great pics of them with the characters.

Well, not too much luck short shopping tonight. Lots of t-shirts and swim trunks on sale, but Walmart, Zellers, Stitches had NO mens shorts left at all (my son takes a mens small). So we ventured over to the Good Will store and actually found a pair of fairly new plaid ones in his exact size! I figure Florida must sell shorts year round, so we'll stop into a Wallmart during our two night stay in Kissimmee before our Disney World stay.
As for how to dress for dinner on the cruise, the reccomendation is just no shorts (kids are ok though) I'll probably wear capri's day and evening. Except for the dress up night (you don't HAVE to really dress up, just dress nicely as fancy or as nice casual as you want). This trip my daughter wants to wear her grad dress (gown), so I've bought a little suit for my 6 year old, a nice shirt and tie and dress pants for my 12 year old. My 16 year old will wear the same as the 12 year old as well as DH. I've found a nice fancy top but still need to find either a pair of dressy black capri's or a black skirt to wear with it. (though my mother says she has both and will lend me whatever I want, so I may go raid her closet). Unbelievably, many of her clothes fit me, and though I wouldn't wear some of her clothes (just not my style), she truly does have some NICE stuff, lol.

I know the feeling. My fiance did the same thing to me. He said at least they should be on clearance now. The only problem is that they don't have his size. Good luck!

Hi how is everyones trip planning going. I'm still waiting to book everything. We don't really have much to book just the kids in the clubs/daycare and the stingrays on CC. We are thinking of just staying on the ship instead of doing the dolphin encounter. Not sure on that yet. I went shopping and found myself some much needed capris and tees for the trip. Couldn't find a swimsuit for myself I guess I waited too long because what was left on clearance was not much at all. I ended up ordering it online and haven't got it yet, I pray it fits. I also picked up the most perfect swimsuit for my 1yo at Kmart. It was 50% off and came to a whole $6. How awsome is this for a cruise on Disney.

Don't mind the stash of baby supplies she is standing in we are getting them all together for sale. No more babies for us. :rotfl:

She's Adorable, love the picture!!!!
I haven't done much shopping yet but, I really should get out there and check the sale racks. With the boys home for summer, it's rough to get out and shop, they hate to come along. Once they go back to school, I can get organized. I hope to get over to the outlets soon and see if I can get a few things to fill in with.

She is so adorable!

I have to get myself some new sandals and a few things. Only 81 more days!

Thanks everyone. I was looking on the bathing suit racks and saw the sailor design and when I saw it was Disney it just couldn't have been better. Now we all need some new tennis shoes so we can wear them in before the trip.

DisneyNewbie, your daughter is ADORABLE! Oh and the suit is too!
We did new bathing suits in June for my boys.
I just picked up some crocs at the dollar store a few days ago (imitation ones they got from some other store). For $2.00 I got the MOST comfortable shoe I've ever worn! They are a white base, but then have this kind of Tie Died disign on them, which I thought would be Awesome to wear in WDW!
Picked up a roof top carrier yesterday.
6yr old DS, knows we don't go till Halloween but insisted on filling the van with travel garbage bags today, for the trip! LOL, I think he's getting really excited now! Have our maps and all for the drive down, and now we're just trying to figure out what time to leave home!
Oh, MUST get to making our Pirate Costumes!

How long does it take you to drive to disney from Canada?

That's great that you're son is so excited. So far i'm the only one in vacation mode over here, they usually wait until its much closer. I really can't wait.

Your Crocs sound like they will be perfect for the park.

We've never driven before, but based on mapquest and others who have made the trek, it will take approximately 23 hours driving one way.
We plan on leaving around 4 am on the 26th, stopping around Fayetteville NC for the night, then having a shorter travel day the next day ending in Kissimmee! We are staying at Suites at Old Town for two nights before checking into CBR in WDW on the 29th. We'll do DTD on the 28th. We figure that plan should have us well rested before a wild 3 days in WDW!
Suites at Old Town recently has some good reviews, prior to January this year it had some horrible reviews. But it's under new management, all beds have been replaced, new paint ect, ect, ect.... And we only need to rent one suite for all 6 of us. It's like a small apartment, with a living room, Kitchen and bedroom. Sleeps 6. All for $46.00/night. If anyone else is interested, check out the new youtube videos of it. All we want is a place to sleep, and a pool. This place seems to fit our bill. I'll give it a review after our visit to the place! (just not too sure about the carnaville next door to it, :scared1:)

Whats everyone else's pre Disney/Cruise plans?

$46?!? Wow!

We arrive late on 10/30. We'll be going to DTD on 10/31 in the am - eating at T-Rex and DD (5) going to BBB. Then we have the MNSSHP and dinner at The Plaza.

FE GIFT EXCHANGE!

We officially have an FE Gift exchange underway! So far, the following 3 families are participating:
myself, TJBAGGOTT
EYESFORMICKEY
and WENEEDKETCHUP

If anyone else would like to participate, just reply to this post or send me a pm, I will update the list periodically. You don't have to have kids to participate, and the rule is, give as you want. In other words, if you'd like to give one gift per cabin, or gift to children only, or gift to adults only, or gift to each person individually, then thats what you do.

As we each find out our cabin number as our cruise approaches, post or pm that info along with the deck number and prior to our travel time, I will get a list to each of you.

What Is An FE Gift Exchange?
FE gift exchanges were created by fellow Dissers a number of years ago. Outside the stateroom doors there is metal FISH Hook for DCL or others to attach important notes or such for you. As part of an FE gift exchange, participants hang a some type of hanging organizer, commonly known as a FISH EXTENDER. Some people make elaborate ones, others hang decorative bags ect. Participants in an FE gift exchange then secretly leave a small gift in the pockets of others Fish extenders. The gift exchange add's more magic to the cruise and It's a real treat to come back to your cabin to find a surprise in your FE!

Wow, $46 That's incredible. It's true, no time is really spent in the room at all so, as long as it's clean, that's all that's important. I wish we had more time down in the orlando area.

We arrive at night on the 30th so, we really only have the 31st which will be breakfast at Chef Mickey and MNSSHP in the late part of the day. I rented DVC points on disboards for the room which worked out very well so far.

When we return on 11/5, we will spend 2 nights in Universal. My kids have been asking to go back there, they like the roller coasters there and can't wait to get back, it's been about 4 years.

I couldn't lose anymore days from work and they're missing 2 1/2 days of school this way. I really wish we could've gone down a day earlier.

Thanks again for dong :happytv:the FE exchange!!!

Hmm I replied to this yesterday and have no idea where it went. Wow $46 is great, it's so hard to find somewhere for larger families where the price isn't outrageous. As far as our pre Disney plans we are getting to Disney on 10/25th and staying at POP. We are flying for the first time so I'm anxious about that. We are doing the Halloween Party on the 27th and Sea World on the 31st. I was checking Sea Worlds site and it looks like they do some pretty neat stuff for the kids on Halloween which I wasn't even expecting so I'm happy about that. The rest of the days will be Disney parks. We didn't get the water park option or anything because we don't have enough time for all that. This will be my youngest dds first trip and my moms first trip and I'm hoping Delaney has enough hair by then to get her first haircut at Disney.
