noticeable differnces between POP and AND ALL STARS?

Someone mentioned that Pop can be confusing and I am concerned about this. We are taking my grandfather 86 and while he is still pretty spry for his age he does get confused, especially in places he doesn't know. We have stayed at Movies and he did fine. This trip we are booked at Pop, thinking the different generations would talk about all the different trends of the time. 4 generations are going. But if it is hard to get around in I won't take the chance. At the Movies he could go to the food court and get back to the room, we decorated the window so he would know which one(helped me too). BE honest please will this be more difficult at Pop? Thanks!

Well, Movies is smaller. It depends on what your grandfather is going to do on his own. Honestly, Movies foodcourt can get congested when it's busy. But, the foodcourt at Pop is bigger. IF I trusted my six year old alone when we were there, I have no doubt that she could have made it to the foodcourt and back to our room by herself. If you get confused in the foodcourt, just look for a door that leads OUTSIDE. That will take you to the back of the resort. One thing we didn't like about Pop is that the foodcourt and giftshop are one big room. So, it just seemed more congested to us.

But, the good thing about Pop is that the buildings all look different. If you were staying at POR where they have mansions that look alike that might get confusing. But, with Pop you walk out the back door and straight ahead is the '60s. To the left is the '70s and '80s/'90s. To the right the '50s. All of the buildings look different. And, each building has something on it. So, if you are staying in the '70s area you have a big wheel on one building and Mickey Mouse on the other.

I think you will be completely fine in Pop Century. I think you should request not to be in the '80/'90s area, though. That is a further walk. If you have four generations be sure to go to Generation Gap Bridge and take a picture of someone from each generation standing on the bridge.

I don't know your grandpa, but if he has a tendency to get confused, you might want to go with the resort with which he is familiar and had success. You might even want to request the same building section you had before. You could still visit Pop and look at the memoriablia in the lobby. Pop is quite spread out and might be a stretch for your grandfather on top of a day at the parks. I hope your family has a wonderful time on this very special trip! I hope I can still do Disney at 86. You grandfather sounds like a delightful gentleman.

Thank you both! I too hope I can go in my 80's! I will think about what you have said and talk to my mom too. We actually thought about POR at first but after looking at it knew he would have a hard time getting around. The big Icons really help him. He likes to stay around the resort in the AM and we come back for him in the afternoon. So I want to feel comfortable that he can get to the food court or sit outside by the pool but get back to the room without getting lost. Then he goes with us to the parks in the evening. It is cooler and we are ready for a more relaxing time. He likes the shows and people watching but won't ride too many rides anymore. One more question, he will have a scooter, will the busses be more of an issue at the bigger POP than an All Star? I know sometimes all of the busses cannot take a wheelchair. So many things to think about!

I've stayed at ASMu and Pop - liked Pop MUCH better - b/c it's newer, everything looks and feels "fresher", if you can understand what I mean. I loved the lake and a lot of the rooms can have a view of Epcot and the ToT at MGM - ours did and we got to watch Illuminations each night. The food court has better food and more interesting - twinkie tiramisu, tiedye cheesecake. I would do Pop again.

I'm all about the twinkie tiramisu too Boucheresq, what room did you stay in where you could see Epcot and MGM? I asked for a room in the 70's when we booked.

we stayed in the 60's (which is preferred) on the fourth floor, room 4458, I believe, I would recommend anything from 4450-4459. If you don't want to pay the extra for preferred (we didn't have a choice b/c that's all that was left), you can also see epcot and mgm from the 50's - I would call reservations and put in a specific request for the 50's or 60's 4th floor with view of lake and epcot - we did and rec'd our request. Our first night there (which was separate of package), we were in the 70's and didn't like it at all. We had a lovely view of the parking lot. I don't think you can see Epcot from either the 70's, 80's or 90's - pls someone correct me if I'm wrong.
