Notice given for cancellation?

While I know that nobody knows the answer of when cruising will resume, I was curious to see what kind of notice Disney is giving regarding cancellations? We are slated for July 5, 2020 Double-dip Bahamian and we are PIF.

We are patiently waiting as this would have been part of our honeymoon if we didn’t have to postpone our wedding, but slightly nervous that Disney might not make a decision until a week or two beforehand. Thoughts on this?

We, all seven of us, are booked with DCL for a 10-day Caribbean cruise starting June 27 with five days in advance at WDW. No word yet on where any of this is headed and the cruise still looks almost sold out. How are they going to limit the ship's capacity to 50% or so? Maybe when you check in they say, "OK, you can go, not you, yes you, not you".....yikes! There are so many problems the Disney properties and ships must face. Now, my wife and I have looked at contingencies that our granddaughters don't want to hear about. Like you, and thousands of others mouse guests, we are waiting for the other shoe to drop or not. I believe we will get an email first, but I still check our reservations on line each day. Another thought is maybe the ports we are scheduled to dock will be closed and our cruise is rerouted...lots of variables.

That ship is not sailing. The CDC no sail order is slated to still be in effect, and Chapek stated yesterday that DCL will be the last Disney travel business to reopen.

I'd bet my first born (and honestly, #2 also) on ZERO cruises this summer, and probably not this fall.

I'd also expect DisneyWorld to be closed also.

AGREED. We are booked on the Oct 22 Bermuda cruise, and I DOUBT it will sail. I have a Villa booked for the Marathon in January, and doubt that will even happen. PRAY I AM WRONG!

AGREED. We are booked on the Oct 22 Bermuda cruise, and I DOUBT it will sail. I have a Villa booked for the Marathon in January, and doubt that will even happen. PRAY I AM WRONG!

I think you may be right about the cruises, but I can't see WDW still being closed in January. The marathon may not happen, but the parks will most likely be open long before.

Shanghai Disneyland is opening on Monday. I think WDW will open some time before July and short cruises to resume sometime in August.

I think the issue with cruising is going to be what ports are comfortable with 2,000 people disembarking into their Country anytime this year?
I just don't see it happening, it's still too risky.
Does DCL try to start back up with cruises to nowhere?
Will cruisers book that option? Book a ship with half the people? Is this even worth the risk for DCL?
I guess they can add a new page to the contract, that they're not responsible if you catch this virus.

Cruises to nowhere are illegal from US ports so that would require some kind of exception on a federal level.

Was this an Alaska sailing? They canceled those in one sold batch through June at this point. The Magic, Dream and Fantasy cruises have been canceled in batch of 2-3 weeks at a time, which is leaving lots of people waiting to hear about their assumed canceled cruise this summer.

The real problem is that once someone has the virus they have exposed an entire ship full of people. Those people may have gotten on airplanes and sent the virus around the country. Again.
And what do they do with a ship full of people who may have been exposed???

Right, My fear would be not being able to disembark, scary.
Getting on a plane is another scary thing.
I can't wrap my head around re-opening parks or ships with all this unknown.
I'm curious to see it all plays out.

I didn't know they couldn't do that.
I thought that new ships do a soft opening with cruises to "nowhere" for VIP's.
Google is your friend, LOL they stopped them in 2016.

I posted this on the Mega-thread a couple of weeks ago and just updated it with the most recent notice:

except for the very first cancellations which were immediate, it looks like all have received at least 14 days notice. Based on the Official Announcements thread above:

• March 14th - impacting departures through 4/12/2020
• March 30th - extended to departures through 4/28/2020
• April 6th - impacting Vancouver sailings departing through 6/30/2020
• April 10th - extended to all departures through 5/17/2020 plus Vancouver sailings through 6/30/2020
• April 15th - impacting Disney Magic sailings departing through 6/7/2020
• April 27th - extended to all departures through 6/18/2020 plus Magic sailings departing through 7/2/2020

Thanks for the CDC info. I looked it up and the gloom set in...seems our cruise is history. I assume I wait for DCL to cancel it via email to get the 125% credit. Still holding out hope...a miracle...some pixie dust magic...anything!!

Appreciate this thread and the updates. I have been watching the "mega thread" and its a bit overwhelming with the number of pages now!

We are booked on the Magic, departing from Dover England on 7/25/20. We were offered - and have taken - the PIF delay to 30 days pre cruise. Unfortunately - and it wasn't made clear by our TA at the time - regardless of the PIF full delay, our deposit is now non-refundable and we are still on the hook for 50% or more of our cruise pricing if we cancel after the end of May (I forget the exact date). We are not pleased with the thought of losing a rather significant chunk of $$ with the deposit, so at this point we are in a game of chicken with Disney, waiting for a cancellation.

Even if the Magic makes it to Europe ... I can't see all the countries in our itinerary opening up their ports to the big cruise ships. And if the itinerary is changed to only one or two ports -- that's a lot of money to float around northern Europe. Not to mention if there are mandatory pre and post quarantines ... that won't be covered by travel insurance of course. It really is a mess.

All that said - I can't see our cruise happening. But we will continue to wait and see. Would be nice to have direction.

Ours was canceled on the last round, I didn’t get the email till late in the day, but it was canceled in the am. I saw it early on Twitter so that’s how I found out. We rebooked for January and I don’t even feel all that confident about that!

Thanks. I agree that parks will be open, but I doubt the Marathon will go off. Social distancing is impossible, and we would pass out wearing masks!
