to boost your self esteem :)
LOL

Went to the grocery store, little man in tow, no makeup, lookin rough. This young guy (bout 10 yrs younger) looks at me, looks at my outfit and says "I like the orange, it's hot".. lol. k, thanks
As we are leaving, he says "Bye little man, bye gorgeous".

Ok...stupid, but made my day :cutie::laughing:

Yay for strangers**! (And you should probably wear orange more often :cool2:.)

Something similar happened to us when we were at WDW. My DD & I were walking through World Showcase, shopping in some of the different pavilions, and some of the nice young male (and handsome too!) CMs were very "courtly" to DD. Now, you have to understand something...DD is gorgeous, but the boys at her HS don't seem to notice so this attention kind of surprised her, but it was *very* flattering.

agnes!
** - As long as the strangers aren't somehow "creepy".

Compliments are always nice aren't they?

We ran into some of my daughters friends at the grocery store. After we walked away, one of her guy friends (he was a senior 18 yrs old) text my daughter "Is your mother married to your dad, she is hot". My daughter text him "YES!!" and he texts back, "Yeah, but is she happy?" my daughter responds "Yes and yuck you are nasty that is my mom!"

My husband and I had the biggest laugh out of that. Daughter didn't like it much tho!!!

I had a spring in my step for a few minutes after that !!!!

Great stories! :)

Love the compliment! Wear orange more!! :lmao:

And I will share my story that happened last night. We were at the mall. New food court just opened so lots of stores had people out front with their little trays of food. We were walking by one place that had quesadilla samples (yumo). DH isn't a fan of anything that resembles Tex-Mex food so he automatically said "no thanks". I said "Oh yeah" and grabbed one. The guy handing out the samples responded with "Well at least your daughter knows good food." :rotfl2:

We both said simulataneously "daughter?" DH piped up with "That's not my daughter, that's my wife!!" The poor guy looked so embarassed. DH got so miffed (not angry). He said it would have been better if the guy responded with a "good for you for getting such a hot, young wife." But he didn't. DH is still grumbling over it today. :rotfl::rotfl: And for the record, I'm 43 and DH just turned 50. I've recently lost a lot of weight and cut my hair. DD kept saying "But dad, it's because mom has teenage hair now, that's all." :lmao:

Is it creepy story day on the DIS?

Is it creepy story day on the DIS?

How is it creepy? Compliments are nice :goodvibes

I think the nicest compliment I ever had was about 4 yrs ago. I was out on a date, shooting pool with my date. There were 2 guys the next table over shooting pool as well. I said hi to them, we had small talk between them and us. Nothing really. About 30 minutes later, one of the guys came to my date and said he means no disrespect for his 'girlfriend' but I was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. My date said the guy seemed so genuine that he couldn't be mad at him for saying so.

Have to admit... that was awesome. The guy was nice looking too :rolleyes1

Kind, complimentary comments from a total stranger are always nice - and do have a tendency to "make ones day"..

We should all do things like that more often..:thumbsup2

Obviously you need to wear more orange. I am 48 and recently had two different guys honk their horn and whistle at me as I was walking down the street. I haven't had that happen for sometime, so it made me feel good.

I think it is great when you get an unexpected compliment especially when you feel you aren't looking your best. Years ago when my DD was 3, and I had just split with my ex, I was dressed in holey jeans, a guys sweater and som raty boots. I ran into someone I had thought was nice looking and he said I was looking really nice that day. At the time, I really needed compliments like that and it really made my day.

I was walking to work one day and this cute guy actually used a Joey Tribbiani line on me and said, "How you doin?" I didn't mind.

I kind of get a creepy vibe from what he said to you, but you were there and if you didn't, I guess it was definitely a positive thing.

The best compliment I think I've ever got from a stranger was right after college. I was working as an assistant manager at a clothing store and this older guy came in. I'd say he was about 70. I had taken my glasses off to clean them and he walked up to me and said, "You know, you're very pretty with your glasses on, but with them off you're absolutely stunning." That compliment still carries me along when I'm not feeling great about my appearance.

Fine line here...

Creepy vs. Sweet

I've had compliments like, "You have such beautiful blue eyes."

and then

I've heard things like, "You and I need to do something about your hotness"

and YES a coworker actually said this to me

MEN. I know you're not all bad, but some of you:confused3

This is why I try to never leave the house without a fake nose and moustache glasses. I get so bored with men throwing themselves at my feet and worshipping me ;)

LMAO...Yes..hearing that line still makes me smile.

This is a great thread. I remember walking on the boardwalk one year in Ocean City, MD., it was my 52nd birthday(I think), and I passed some elderly gentlemen who were on their balcony and I heard one say as I went by, "If I was only 30 years younger!"
