It was a calm, magical evening as it ever is at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and my family and I were sitting around a table eating dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table restaurant. It was here that we decided to return next summer.
Once we returned back home in ordinary Massachusetts, we started to really plan our vacation. It certainly wasn't a difficult decision to make as to where we were going to stay. Heck, I have college coming up and my sister follows after me next year. We also plan to get a car for the winter season (making it our fourth car). We knew we had to stay at the All Star Resorts. Naturally, we unanimously decided on All Star Sports.
Man, I was pumped now! We were going to Walt Disney World! I had started to figure out how things would work. The AS Resorts are not on the monorail line such as our "home" the Grand Floridian is and we needed to decide how we would spend our time considering the buses are exactly the quickest means of transportation.
Now, we have stayed at the All Star Resorts many times before because, you see, my dad is a teacher of electronics at a vocational high school and got his school involved with the national FIRST Robotics competitions. We, as a family, would travel with him and a few of his students. While the AS Resorts are value, and because the school basically paid for the trip, they would book the stay at the AS Resorts.
When I was in about 6th grade and after we had been to Walt Disney World about 6 times (once a year since first grade) we decided to branch off of and go as just a family to Walt Disney World. We would still continue to go with my dad some years in March (March was the month of the competitions -- Florida Regionals) and we would go to WDW in July as just a family. We decided to stay at the resort we had always dreamed of staying at...the Grand Floridian.
Enough of the history lesson. So okay, we booked our trip to All Star Sports and we said, oh how we will miss the Grand Floridian but it will be just as fun at the All Stars...so we hoped. We were just glad to be going because, I mean, park tickets are not cheap and staying on grounds is not cheap either! Heck, the plane tickets aren't always cheap and I'm going to college next fall!
So anyway, I the other day I showed my dad a video I made with our pictures from last July. It is over 10 minutes long and about 6 minutes of it is the Grand Floridian. Right after watching it, he ran to the living room asking us if we wanted to change our ressies to the GF instead...limiting the days there from 10 to 7 but upgrading our resort. After I got over the initial shock, I was like...HECK YES! lol. My mom also agreed but it took some convincing to get my sister on board. She preferred the 10 day trip over the 7 day trip...even if it meant staying at WDW's flagship resort.
So we changed our ressies from the AS to the GF. I was amazed we could do that with me going to college and all. But then...it gets better. This past summer we went on the Platinum Plan. That is huge! They only allow 100 people on it at once and it is the best and most expensive plan to be on! Well, my dad brings up, "how about we go Platinum again". All of our jaws dropped and after much diliberation, came to the conclusion that it was still in budget. We thought, sure!
Then, after thinking about it, we decided to forget platinum and stay at the Main Building concierge instead! With Lagoon view! We were all so happy and so bewildered at this point...but we kept the gears turning!
Today, my dad called the planner about upgrading to Club Deluxe Concierge now instead of regular concierge. You know, it still hasn't even hit me yet at what came next out of my dad's mouth..."The deluxe rooms are booked. Let's look at suites!"
From the All Star Sports, to staying definitely at the GF (with confirmation noticed already arrived in the mail) and now debating the choice of staying in a suite. I am still waiting for my heart to calm down! lol.
