Notes with MS on ressies...

Besides location requests for your room does anyone ever mention celebrations (birthday, anniversary) that are occuring during your stay? I've noticed that people mention doing this on the Resort boards....and if so what do you expect from such notes...and what have they ever done for anybody's celebration???

It seems very pushy to me ...just wondering if it was standard practice...

The only time I've mentined it is when we planned a surprise on arrival day for a traveling companion. We arranged for a Mickey cake, balloons, party hats to be delivered to the room...but that, of course, was something we PAID for..I've never mentioned it for any "perks"...personally, it just isn't something I'd want to do...but if others want to...more power to 'em.

I think we mentioned my daughter's ninth birthday when we checked in at BWV, not when I made the reservation. When we got back in the evening, we found that Pooh and his friends had left an autographed picture for my daughter with wishes for a Happy Birthday. We were thrilled! But I have also heard of people mentioning birthdays and nothing being done so better not say anything to your kids just in case.

We do try to go over special occasions and I usually mention it to MS with just a passing comment. I've never officially asked to have it noted. The previous time we went (my 40th), nothing special was done. Two months ago, I took my mother for her 60th birthday, and once again, mentioned it briefly during my contact with MS while making the reservations. About 20 minutes after we'd checked into our room, a CM arrived with a big Pooh balloon and a card signed by Pooh for my mother. This made her day (and mine!).

I really think it's hit or miss, the CM who checks you in, the CM who makes your ressie, etc. You just never know.

I guess that makes it even more special. I know if it were for one of my children and I really wanted something special done, I would probably do what Chuck S mentioned and pay for it to ensure it would happen.
