I am trying to figure out what would be a better christmas present for my kids Ages 5,9,10 a notebook or Ipod touch??? suggestions/comments appreciated

My kids love their ipod touches. They would not want a netbook or even a tablet.

If you can swing it - You should consider the Ipad or Ipad mini. My kids both have touches. They got I-pads 2 years ago for Christmas. They barely touch the touches now. They use the ipads all the time.

Notebooks are out!

You didn't mention how your kids will use these. I assume for music, games, videos, etc. If so, definitely not a notebook.

Personally, if you can afford it, I agree with getting an iPad or an iPad mini. Or for a cheaper option, a Kindle Fire. All more useful than an iPod Touch. Once you use a tablet sized screen, you won't be content with a Touch.

The ipod touch or a tablet. Check to see what games they want to play on it or if they want to watch movies, etc. Make sure the electronic device you get is compatible with the activities they want to use it for. My son was very disappointed to find that some of the movies we have won't play on my tablet.

Also, which ever you get I recommend one of these as a stocking stuffer:

Make sure to get one that will channel enough power to charge the device you choose :thumbsup2

My kids all have iPod touch's, some have I phones, and most have kindle fires. Get the touch. None of my kids want notebooks.

IMO:
Are you thinking of getting them an Ipad each? If not think about the tug of wars that will happen if they have to share. Apple products are overpriced and I never been a big fan of them, they just have a great marketing department. I would consider a kindle fire, you may be even able to get each of them their own for the price of an Ipad.

iPod Touch + good case, or iPad + good case. I guess any tablet would work, but kids are probably going to want Apple products.

A notebook or netbook wouldn't last a week with most kids I know.

I wouldn't get a Kindle. Unless you root it, you can't get Android apps on it.

Look at the Nexus 7 as a tablet if you are going that route. It is a purely google/android tablet.

One thing though......in my opinion, I would never get the lowest amount of memory available. They will fill it up fast and want more.

My 9 year old has a Nexus 7, 32gb and has about 25gb filled so far. We have a 32gb ipad that we keep having to delete things from to make more room.

Agree -- iPod touch or I'd go iPad ($$$$) or Nexus 7. I think for the money, I'd go Nexus 7. My BIL is a techie and that's what he recommended. They have a Kindle Fire as well and he said that the Nexus puts it to shame. It's what his DD uses all the time.

:thumbsup2 I sold all of our iPod touches on ebay because they never used them anymore once we got the iPad & iPad mini. The kids love them!!

We have had nothing but trouble with DS Kindle Fire. It's already been returned twice because it freezes up. My older son has had a IPad 2 for 3 years and we've never had one problem with it.

Apple has a refurb section on their website. That's where I got my son's IPad, and like I said it's been 3 years and counting

We were debating on ipod touch or ipad mini for our boys last year. We asked them, and both wanted the ipod touch. The older one (12) has a school-owned notebook that is loaned to him during the school year that he uses for any homework assignments.

I would get the 2 older ones ipads and maybe a touch for the younger one. I don't know anyone who wants a notebook.
