Several people have reported an issue where they get a notice that they have to download something or upgrade their browser in order to get Private Messages. DO NOT CLICK, DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING!
This is Spam/Malware. The Webmasters are aware of this, and working on it.
Private Messages are called "Conversations" now, and you don't need to download or upgrade anything to get them.
