Notation on Ressie make a difference for upgrade?

I just noticed a special note on my reservation. I remember that when I made my original booking the CM was really cheery and helpful. When I mentioned that it was our 15 year anniversary she said hold on because I want to make a big note that this is a special occasion.

Well I went last year and it was my 40th birthday and my sister called and asked to add this to ressie without me knowing it. Nothing, not even a happy birthday by the CM!

NO big deal, but in this reservation I noticed on my ressie they have all of that written write on my reservation. I have never seen that before. Any chance this will be met with a possible upgrade or special picture or something in the room? Not that I am EXPECTING something, just wondering if this increases our chances any since it is written right on the reservation? Just curious! Thanks! I hope this is not a flamable question? I reiterate, I am not expecting anything, just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience!

Probably what it will mean is the CM checking you in will be kind enough to wish you a Happy Anniversary and give you a button to wear. Depending on the resort, you might get some balloons delivered to your room. Good Luck!

I thought about putting it on our ressie since we will be there for our 8th anniv. but we are staying at POFQ so there's not much they can give us in terms of an upgrade. I don't want a water view, I want to be by the bus stop.

We did the Grand Californian at Disneyland for one of our anniversaries. I'd mentioned it on the reservation, and when we got to our room, there was a "Happy Anniversary" card from Cinderella and Prince Charming, along with some little chocolate hearts.

I think it's always worth mentioning anytime you stay at ANY nice hotel. Some will do something special/some won't, but it can't hurt!

Then she told you when you got back?

Well. she went with us. So she told me after the first day. She said a friend of hers got a bithday card signed by Mickey. So she called and put a note on our reservation without me knowing it. Then when I didn't get anything after the first day, she told me. I wasn't dissappointed but she was because she called specifically to add it. I told her it doesn't always mean they will do anything. She was hoping for a birthday button for me too. It was fine. But again she called just before our trip and it was not mentioned when we initially made the reservation.

Depends on the hotel, the CM, the time of year etc.

Last year we were upgraded from standard to savannah at AKL. Was it because of my birthday notation- maybe :confused3 . I did get the autographed card from Mickey and friends.

We have our 10th Anniversary noted on our GF ressie this year and if we get some pixie dust I'll be excited, but if not, it won't matter. I am just so happy to be back at the GF for the first time since our honeymoon!!

I've been to WDW three times now, celebrating someone's birthday. It is always noted on my reservation as well as ADRs. To date, nothing has ever been mentioned at the resort, or anything left in the room. My dd, who celebrated two birthdays on two different trips, did get birthday cards from Mickey and Pooh at Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace.
I haven't heard of anyone getting a room upgrade due to a birthday or anniversary, but I could be wrong.
I like to arrange all of my 'magical' things myself. That way, I know the birthday person is going to get something special.

I just noticed a special note on my reservation.
Sounds like from your own personal experience, you know it really doesn't make much difference at all. There's no harm in adding it, but as you've seen yourself, it could result in absolutely nothing.

See this is the difference, I Have never seen a note on my actual paperwork. My sister made a call and they noted it on the reservation, but it wasn't on any paperwork. Thats why I am asking. This seems different to me. In the past I have requested room locations like "near food court" or Jamica or Aruba when we were at the CBR. But these never showed up on my paperwork.

But I just looked at my paperwork from Feb-07 which is when we made the original reservation and it states:
GF -GV ZFZ (this was the code )
SPECIAL REQUEST: Anniversary
Please NOTE: 15 Years
Please NOTE: Non Smkg/ Child Medical Reason

Maybe I just never noticed this before. Just curious if others have their special requests on the actual paperwork when they receive it from Disney.

I, of course, know this does not guarantee anything at all.

We have gone at our birthdays a couple of times, the hotel has always done something for us, last time they left plush winnie the pooh toys on our bed with a happy birthday card.

The thing is you just can't count on it, and if you expect it you might be disappointed.

It was noted on my paperwork last year for my birthday and this year for our anniversary.

On our first trip we stayed at the Poly and it was my b-day. I received a card signed by Belle and a birthday cake as well! :cloud9:

A few months ago, when I was upgrading us from value to moderate, the CM I got was exceptionally chatty and it came out in conversation that I was upgrading us because it was an anniversary trip and we were "splurging"-she asked what year and I told her 10 and how we had honeymooned there, and all. She told me that she and Mickey were "pretty close" and she was emailing him at that moment to let him know and there would be something waiting for us at our resort. Now, if we don't get anything that's fine with me because I am just happy to be at WDW and finally staying at a moderate- this will be our last trip there for several years so I want to make the most of it-it'll be great no matter what we get or don't get!
To the OP, if you do get something let us know, I'll do the same!!

I could have posted this exact thing myself - I was chatting w/ a CM while inquiring about Club Level and said that I wanted to surprise DH for our anniversary - and the CM told me that she had some connections w/ Mickey and we'll see what she can do :confused3

Nothing is on my reservation - all I want is an anniversary button.

I guess it would depend on when the notation was made and when you received your paperwork. It sounds like your sister may have called at some point and had it added, as opposed to this instance, when it was done during the reservation process. The difference being, that special comment field had not been filled yet when they printed out your confirmation for the b-day trip. Hopefully that makes better sense of what I was trying to say.

You have to wonder how many people are celebrating a birthday or anniversary or some other special occasion with a visit to WDW. I'm not sure it matters when it comes to an upgrade. We never notate celebrations and we've been upgraded twice. It would be hard for the resorts to put things in your room in advance as many people ask to change their room assignment upon check-in if they can when it's not what they requested. And how would they know when you'll check in, or when the room is clean. :confused3

Nothing is noted on my confirmation papers that I got in the mail, but when I applied this new summer code I had to switch resorts (from POFQ to POR) I called back to make sure nothing had been deleted like our dining, and I wanted to add a building request, the CM said I see a note here that your celebrating a 10 year anniversary with us. So they had it noted in their computer. Like I said before, I don't really care if we get something, upgrading to a moderate is enough of a present for me!
You'll have to post if they do something for you! I do like to hear about the special magic that Disney provides! Have a good trip!!

I think if Disney starts giving upgrades for special occasions, it's opening a "pandora's box". If it's posted here that someone got an upgrade because it was their anniversary, immediately the unscrupulous and going to call and claim it's their anniversary or birthday or whatever. Then they will take a fit if they don't get it.

I don't think it makes a difference really, and almost everybody there is celebrating something. On our honeymoon, we got a coupon for two complimentary glasses of champagne. On our 5th anniversary, we got a card from Mickey at check in. Nothing too exciting.
