Not trying to cheat the system, just not breakfast eaters....

Here is my question......

I am not trying to "cheat" the system, but just looking for the best solutions for my family with picky 9 & 7 year olds.

It is my understanding that although Disney does not differentiate between adult & child counter service meals credits, we would only be allowed to order 2 adults & 2 child meals at any one restaurant?

My family members are not big breakfast eaters. I would love to use our credits to order 4 kids CS breakfasts, & save our adult credits to give my kids a wider selection at lunch.

Anyone know if this is possible?

Also, if we sometimes choose to share an adult CS meal is there any way to know how many child credits we have remaining, or is it "on my honor".

I would love any input.

Thanks

Sorry, one final question, not on dining. If Disney comes out with any additional discounts for "room only" in the fall can I benefit from them in any way, or am I stuck paying full price for my MYW package plus dining during the Oct. blackout period?

I was so excited for my family's 1st trip to Disney, but I am having a hard time accepting full price when we were so close to free dining. We could have added two nights to the front end of our trip, had FREE dining & it would be cheaper than our current reservation. If only I hadn't booked our flights that cost more to change than I paid in the 1st place!

Live & learn I guess!

Counter service credits are not pooled. No matter what you order, it will pull a quantity, not a child or adult.

If there's availability at your resort, then most likely it can be applied. Not all of them always can, as some "room only" discounts cannot be converted into a package, but most of them can.

If your family aren't big breakfast eaters (mine isn't either) why don't you just forget using credits for breakfast and just keep some things in the room that you can eat for breakfast? Or you could always use snack credits or pay OOP for snack type things in your resort food court or quick service (depending on where you're staying). As far as the room discounts, like the pp said, it just depends on Disney and whether they can apply that particular discount to your particular package.

You won't be able to order 4 kids breakfasts at one time. The CM's go by the KTTW card and it will say 2 adults, 2 kids so that is the most CS meals you can get at one time.

For a snack credit you can get a small single serving of milk and a small box of cereal.

You won't be able to use credits for 4 kid's meals in one transaction (well, actually, you may be able to, since it can be assumed you're using adult credits for child meals, which, while non-optimal, should be allowed). The real difficulty would be trying to use credits for 4 adult meals at one time later.

However, if you're willing to go through the extra hassle of making two transactions, you should be able to do either. Considering you're still using the right number of adult and child credits in the end, I see no violation of the spirit of the plan this way.

What they're trying to prevent is guests using credits for which they paid a child's price to buy adult meals, not the other way around. However, you still might get a cashier who is a stickler for the "one transaction" rule.

And if you are paying full price for your dining plan, using your adult credits to order child meals is not using the plan to its full value, which won't matter if you bought it only for the convenience of prepayment and not for the savings.

As for the discounts, you must be able to apply the discount to a package. If you want a discount that applies to room only and not to packages, you'd have to give up the package booking and the dining plan. But if there is a discount that applies to package bookings, you can add it anytime up to 3 days before your departure.

I'd suggest ordering 2 adult breakfasts, not 4 kids. DD and I always split a CS breakfast as they are huge! Plenty there for everyone to pick at, you get 2 beverages (always get a large) and you've only used 2 CS instead of 4.

Thanks for all the replies. We will probably just eat something in the room or use snack credits for breakfast.

I sometimes wonder if I should just skip the dining plan completely! Would I lose my ADR's?

I am still really hopeful for some kind of discount that will come out. I know I am being a baby, but I just feel so cheated paying full price! I was so pround of myself booking early & getting ADR's, but this rookie will never book again until the promotions are announced!

Nope. Dining Reservations and package contents are separate. In fact, even if you alter and change around all your package reservations (including outright canceling), the dining reservations should remain intact.

You won't loose your ADR's if you cancel the Dining Plan. Make sure you cancel before the 45 day mark or they will charge you a cancellation fee.
