NOT to stir up a debate.. Just wondering why..

Not only do I eat very little, I am one of the most picky eaters I know. Everyone at work teases me about my eating habits. I always order off the kids menu at WDW and no one has said anything. The only time I don't is if my DD (16) and I decide to split a meal, like at Columbia Harbor House. We will split a fish & Chicken meal.

I can understand paying as an adult at buffet's and character breakfasts. It is only fair even if you don't eat alot. When my DD was young enough be be charged for a kids meal, it balanced out because she ate enough to cover what I didn't eat. (LOL)

I recently e-mailed WDW to ask them if it would be alright for my teenagers to order off the kids menu, as they are both very picky eaters. They took one look at the menus on Deb's website and rolled their eyes and groaned at the selections.

Here's what the e-mail response told me (I'm translating into English, because the language in the e-mail was bordering on ridiculous). At WDW they consider a person at the age of 11 an adult. Therefore, they would like people 12 and over to order an adult meal. If a guest has certain dietary restrictions, the restaurant should be called ahead so they may make arrangements.

That's it. That's what it said. So, I guess the official line is - they don't like it if adults order a kids meal, and they (I guess) have the right to refuse you. I don't think being picky counts as a "dietary restriction", so that part of the e-mail was just extra fluff.

Bottom line - Order it and if they don't like it, they'll let you know.;)

my boys, aged 14 and 12 at the time, eat off the children's menu. We left - there was nothing on their menu that appealed to them. Rather silly of them I thought, as we were a party of 7!

As others have posted many people order the kids meals at WDW. Just be prepared for a very limited selection of mostly fatty/ fried foods for the most part on all the kids menus. I have always been amazed at how unhealthy and how limited the selections are for WDW kids menus. The high priced restaurants do have more of a selection but most of the restaurants have the standard chicken fingers, fries, pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs and mac & cheese. I did not even order off the kids menu when my kids were under 11, I just could not see having them eat all that junk food when at home they ate healthy meals with a large variety of different foods, not junk food 24/7. So when they were young I would order one adult entree and have it split between the 2 kids.

Years ago I tried several kiddie meals from the Counter Service restaurants. I thought they were gross. I prefer to order a regular adult meal even if I can't finish it.

My gripe isn't with the adult portion size, it's the selection. I'm sure there are lots of kids that enjoy eating Fettucini Alfredo with Roast Leg of Lamb, but mine isn't one of them. If it sounds fancy, she runs the other way. I wish they would offer a few items that sound like "normal" food on the adult menus. That would solve all my problems.;)
