Can someone "in the know" tell me why adults can't order the kids meals in Disney World? Fact of the matter is, I eat like a BIRD - and I'd be real happy with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a drink.. But - it usually says for children only and I don't want to break the rules..

I'm curious though - WHY do they have that rule? I'm sure I can't be the ONLY adult that would be happy with a child's meal.. Or am I???

Various members of my family (although usually not me - :D) have eaten off any children's menu that is not a buffet. We have never even been given a second glance. I've also heard many here on the boards report no problems in ordering off the kids menu. My mother almost always does. Try it - I think you'll be pleased to know it's no problem.

The only time I ever had a problem ordering a kids meal was in a ridiculous place in New Hampshire. No one in Disney(or the rest of the US for that matter) has ever told me I couldn't have a kids meal and I do not look like a kid. It's the whole being 6 feet tall thing I think. Go ahead order that kids meal. I don't think anyone will question you.

C.Ann, I order the kids meal alot at different places. One of my favorite ones is the grill cheese and grapes at the contemporary fast food place. I think the only place that would be a problem is at the buffets. Besides, the kids meals sometimes come in cool boxes, (maybe not at WDW but other parks) or have prizes, and I can always find someone to give them to. THe CMs don't even blink at the order. Go for it, as a matter of fact, I remember seeing a menu with "C.Ann, here's your PB&J, order it!!!!"

When we go to WDW with my mother, she always orders off the children's menu and so does my granddaughter (who's 17) and no one ever bats an eye. We only had a problem once (and I don't remember which restaurant it was) so she just ordered an appetizer instead. Still worked out great.

Like the other posters have said, you shouldn't have a problem.

I order the kids meals and my kids order the adult meals:confused: My DD who is 15 wouldn't consider a kids meal.

I've ordered kid's meals plenty of times with no problems. I'm a vegetarian and sometimes the kid's meal is the only option I can get.

I have ordered children's meals from the counter service restaurants with no problem. I like the kids size meals for lunch, that way you do not get too full for the rest of the afternoon.

My DW ordered a grilled cheese sandwich off the kid's menu at Beaches & Cream last October with absolutely no problem. Order off the kid's menus and enjoy those PB&Js!!

:bounce:

Definitely a problem at character meals--regardless of how much you eat you'll still be charged as an adult. But pretty much anywhere else you can order off the kids menu. Just keep in mind that at most palces you will only get the entree, and still have to purchase a drink (and dessert if you want it) seperately. Still, not a bad deal for light eaters.

MickeyFan1 -
The kids meals at the Backlot Express in MGM come in cool boxes! Probably at other places too, but not sure.

I always order kids meals at WDW-I also eat like a bird and it's a good way to save a few bucks!:)

I try to order from the kids menu as often as I can. The only difference I can see is that you get fewer fries which is fine by me!

C Ann, if your concern is that it's officially against the rules, you could assuage any guilt by making it very clear that the kids' meal is for you. That way, if the CM sells it to you with no problem, you know for sure that they're okay with it, and not just selling it to you because they assume you have a munchkin waiting for you to bring food back. (There are always those who say that just because the CM lets you do it doesn't change the rule, but I ignore them! :) )

I have ordered off the childrens menu many times at WDW.

You should have no problem at all as long as you don't try it at a buffet or family style restaurant.

As for is being a "kid's meal" and worrying about the "rules".... just remember, we are all kid's as heart and are only as old as we feel!

Go, have a great time, and order and enjoy those kid's meals!

When we were in the garden grille (I think that's the name. It's the one in Epcot with chip & dale) My daughter who was 15 at the time was told she could order a kids meal but would have to pay adult prices. I think because this was a price fixed restaurant. She had the most expense chicken nuggets that day.
We didn't have a problem anywhere else. Gina

So has anyone without a kid tried ordering off a kid's menu? I'm a lite eater, but am also considering the embarassment factor when I ask for a kid's menu. I usually just eat appetizers as my entree.

Grazing is my favorate way to eat! (In fact it's the only way I eat!) My DH & I are kidless and I order from the childrens menu all the time! When they start making Grilled Chees Sandwiches, 4 oz straks and 1 egg breakfasts for adults I'll go back to the adults menu. The choices are limited but I hate "doggies bags", and I don't like wasting food. Do wish they would start serving half orders again. I know that the costs are based on more than the food, and that they would have to charge about 3/4 of the price - but it would increase selections.

Do I feel funny about ordinging off the childrens menu? Not at all - in fact I collect WDW Childrens Menus!.:Pinkbounc
