Not to be missed on HHI?

I'm sure this has been discussed several times...but we are going to HHI for the first time and will be there for a week, what are the must dos while there-besides the beach. Any great side trips? I'm thinking we might do one day of another little town-what would be your top pick?

We are going in May and have heard great things about a day in Savannah. Also thinking of doing the trolley tour or Paula Deen Tour.

My top pick would be a day in Savannah. It only takes about 45 minutes to get there. There are plenty of restaurants and shops. I agree with the PP who suggested you take a trolly tour. Other options are Old Towne Bluffton and Beaufort. On the Island, I always suggest going into Sea Pines to South Beach and especially Harbour Town. Coligny is also part of what is just HHead Island. Have a great trip.

My husband and I took my Mom and her best friend to HHI back in May of 2010. We had a great time and LOVED it there. Because both my Mom and her friend are big Paula Deen fans, we decided to do the tour, which included lunch at Uncle Bubbas as well as Priority Seating at The Lady & Sons. We were lucky enough to be able to get a reservation for dinner the same night that we were there, so that worked out well for us. We also visited the shops along River Street and enjoyed the city, so a trip to Savannah is something I'd definitely recommend, even if you aren't into Paula Deen.
