Not to be missed entertainment/shows?

Thanks to Avalon_toon for starting this thread and to all the wonderful advice regarding my Fantasmic question! My family will definitely be seeing Fantasmic in August. I'm still trying to figure out how to plan WOC (dinner package or regular fast pass)...but it's fun 'researching' on the Disneyland forums.

I really like the Disneyland Band. I like seeing them in front of the castle and/or Town Square. Their show times and locations are listed in the Times Guide.

How does Fantasmic compare to the WDW version? Of the nighttime shows at WDW that one is not a favorite for my family. My daughter and I went during our trip to WDW last August, but my husband and son skipped it (we had all gone during another trip).

Personally I think the DLR resort's Fantasmic is much better, but you do have to stand for the whole thing. The overall theme music is the same, but the show takes place on the Rivers of America and has some different sections & characters. It just seems much more personal in this setting. That said, if you don't like the other one, you may or may not want to stand for an hour to get a good view of this one.

I also recommend Aladdin - I think it's the best stage show at any Disney park. My favorite short performance is Billy Hill & the Hillbillies (now in the Frontierland Jamboree theater). If you're patriotic, check out the flag retreat ceremony on main street at 5:10.
