Not to be missed entertainment/shows?

I am super fortunate to be going to DL/DCA on a solo trip starting tomorrow! My whole family went last year for our first ever DL trip together (we are WDW vets), and we mostly did the thrill-type rides that the kids wanted to do. This trip I want to focus more on the entertainment/shows/parades, etc. What are some of your favorite, not to be missed performances at DL/DCA?

I would definitely recommend WOC, Fantasmic, and Aladdin.

Top four would be:

Fantasmic
World of Color
Aladdin
SoundSational Parade

After that things to consider:

Magical Fireworks (this show is OK and IMO not taking extra effort to see)
Billy Hill and the Hillbillies
Mad T Party
Instant Concert - Just Add Water
Minnies Fly Girls
Magic, Memories and You

How does Fantasmic compare to the WDW version? Of the nighttime shows at WDW that one is not a favorite for my family. My daughter and I went during our trip to WDW last August, but my husband and son skipped it (we had all gone during another trip).

Thanks!
Kerry

I have heard great things about Aladdin. That one is definitely on our list for our next visit

We love Aladdin and Fantasmic. Also Billy Hill is a fun show if you haven't seen it before.

Hi,

When I travel without my DH and DSs (my recent trips were with my mom) we really enjoy taking it slow.

Our favorite thing to do is grab a ride on one of the old fashioned cars that go up and down main street. Usually they will be running at the beginning of the day, until it gets too crowded.

We catch all of the shows, especially Aladdin.

We make sure to catch the Fireworks, Fantasmic and WOC. We do all of the slow rides like the train, everything in Fantasyland, IASMW, Tiki Room, etc.

I've seen both WDW and DL Fantasmic - although I love both versions...DL's Fantasmic is so much better. I would suggest treating yourself to the dessert package. You can sit in a reserved viewing section and treat yourself to some yummy desserts.

Oh, and shopping...you've got to go into every shop! :thumbsup2

Have a great time!

Most including me who have seen both think the whole experience at DLR is better than at WDW. The biggest drawback at DLR? No stadium seating.

This thread should answer all your questions:

Thanks! We saw Aladdin last summer and loved it - I will definitely see that again. We also saw World of Color last summer, but we were over in front of California Screamin' and had only a partial view. I have not seen Billy Hill, the Mad T Party, Instant Concert-Just Add Water or Minnies Fly Girls, so I'm super excited to see these!

This sounds like my dream trip - look in every shop, see every parade, ride every train, trolly and car that goes slow and lets me appreciate all the Disney details. And, I didn't know DL did a desert show for Fantasmic - I will definitely try to book this! Thanks!

I concur that the DL version is much better. It feels much more organic to the park. You almost feel like the park was built specifically for Fantasmic, rather than the other way around. :)

No one mentioned the Pixar Play Parade in DCA. That is my favorite parade! The music is catchy and I enjoy seeing all my Pixar "friends". :goodvibes

I have seen fantasmic we only saw a little bit but it was fun. My mom went to hungry bear to get hot coco and cookies for my sister princess: brother pirate: and me:banana:.The fireworks were pretty but I would not watch it because of the crowds. about the crowds I would watch fantasmic once but that depends on you. Woc is beautiful but again the crowds. Out of all 3 woc fantasmic fireworks. woc has the biggest crowds and with carsland open it has huge crowds. From Matthew

- Soundsational parade
- Fantasmic
- The fireworks
- WOC
- Laughing Stock (Good get out of the sun, rest your feet, and drink a soda while watching a silly comedy show in Frontierland)

Yeah, soooo many! Most people said them, but to reiterate in no specific order:

-Fantasmic
-WOC
-Soundsational parade
-Pixar Parade
-Magical firewworks (I REALLY like these fireworks for some reason, but yes Remember is better!)
-Mad T Party (Grab a drink and have a great time listening to the music and the crazy entertainment)
-Minnie Fly Girls
-Magic, Memories and You show
-Red Car News boys (this show seems to be mixed with people, but its a fun show and really capture the spirit of what the 'new' DCA is about)

And yes, someone who has seen both Fantasmics, the original is CLEARLY the best! It has bigger set pieces and more elaborate. The pochantas scene just bores me in DHS and the ending has NOTHING on DLs! Just a stronger show and same goes for Tokyos new Fantasmic show. The original is still the best.

As a fellow WDW vet, I would suggest:

Fantasmic!
World of Color
Aladdin
SoundSational Parade
Pixar Parade
Magical Fireworks--its not Wishes!, but it does have some extra magical touches that WDW doesn't
Instant Concert - Just Add Water
Minnie's Fly Girls
Red Car Trolly's News Boys

I adore Fantasmic! I thought the HS version rocked! Then I saw the DL version last fall. It. Blew. My. Mind. Away.

I've heard good things about Goofy's "Instant Concert - Just Add Water." From what I've gathered, it's a small show, but worth seeing. (I've been trying to avoid learning about it, since I want to see it with fresh eyes.)

I really like the Disneyland Band. I like seeing them in front of the castle and/or Town Square. Their show times and locations are listed in the Times Guide.

Everyone has had great answers! And yes, Fantasmic! is FAR superior in it's original form. I was actually disappointed the last time I saw it at DHS, I'd forgotten how much better the Cali version is!
One thing I haven't seen is the Dapper Dans quartet. I can't remember if they appear at the Magic Kingdom as well? Anyway, I totally love them! They sing barbershop harmonies on Main Street throughout the day. Got to see them for Halloween last year, and they were amazing, singing "Grim Grinning Ghosts" and songs from "Nightmare Before Christmas." Their summer songs are great as well, and just really help to set that small town feel that I love about Main Street!

I agree with that the nighttime entertainment is all not to be missed. I've seen F! at WDW several times so I wasn't as wowed at DLR as others. However, the natural setting and use of the Columbia ship makes it a tad better for me. I just wished I could have found some place to sit 1 1/2 hours prior to the show. It was already packed. We had a good view, but I did not like people pushing up against me.

World of Color made a huge impression on me.
