It's only a couple weeks until my trip and i'm not as excited as I usually am. Anyone else feel this way? Maybe its because i'm bringing my in-laws with me who have never been and im nervous what they will think of it. They are not "amusement park" type of people and YES I know Disney is not your typical amusement park. Or maybe it's because were bringing a baby (8 month old) for the first time ever.

Weird. I dunno.

Both of those things are game changers.
But they also will not have experiences to compare them too. :)
Maybe you'll be able to see things anew through your ILs eyes. They will be amazed.

I ALWAYS lose my excitement for a trip when it gets really close, no matter where we are going. All of a sudden I get stressed about leaving work, home, a pet, etc and then I'm convinced I won't have fun wherever I'm going.

It's ridiculous, I do it every vacation. :)

I'm sure your excitement will return as the trip gets even closer. In laws are always a game changer. Maybe plan to not spend every minute with them. Split up when you return to the hotel to rest, or leave them someplace comfortable when they get tired and go on a ride or two.

The baby (is it yours?) will make the trip harder and more fun all at once. Make liberal use of the baby centers in the parks. They are great resources with everything you need to make a baby more comfortable and happy. They are also air conditioned, and you can stay as long as you need. Try to see the magic through the baby's eyes. There's so much to see, hear, smell-- it's amazing.

I agree! Who were you planning on travelling with before? I'm guessing your partner will be there, given that your in-laws will be too? Along with what others have suggested, I'd say maybe try to plan a date night at some point through the trip? The in-laws can take baby for one night (they might be really glad to have a quiet night of cooing at the hotel), and you can relax with your partner. If there's room in your budget, maybe book a restaurant you love/have always wanted to try? If not, hit the world showcase and stroll around with a drink and snack. Or if the thing you think you'll be missing most are the main attractions and E-ticket events, spend the time riding those! Whatever will be the most amazing date night you could have in WDW!

I don't believe you feelings are weird..........seems to me you really want this to be a great vacation because you know what WDW can be! Your anxiety could be two-fold in that you're bring new people and you want them to enjoy WDW has much as you..........and second you may have some anxiety of bringing a baby and how that will impact the trip.

For the first one you just need to be you about WDW. Don't let you normal enthusiasm at being "home" be adversely impacted by others. Its not something you can control. I deal with it with my family.......they don't understand why I love WDW so much. And to be honest I don't care! Would it be fun if they felt the same way.......yeah but regardless it doesn't change how "I" feel.

As for your little one.............I would imagine you've got a schedule with the baby..........fit WDW into that schedule, not the other way around. Since you've done this before you have a better understanding of WDW and are in a better position to work it out. Also remember grandparents never (at least I don't :thumbsup2) turn down the opportunity to watch the little one............

You current feelings are real..........but the moment you drive through those gates............it will all come back to you ;)

Wishing you a magical vacation!!!

Doug :goofy:

I lose the excitement right before- I start worrying about getting everyone packed, the animals to the kennel, even the weather at WDW! Then the night before I stress about getting to the airport on time because my husband is so slow! But once I'm at the airport through security, I start to calm down. Then when we land in Orlando and get on the DME bus, I get so excited I can barely sit!

I think its the inlaws making you feel ambivalent.
Not the baby.
I hope you have a great trip pixiedust:

Ye to both of these. Many people lose excitement, even without in laws or new little humans!

It even happens when planning weddings...many people just lose all the joy a few weeks before. It's just normal, IMO, or a common variation of normal, before big huge exciting things.

Don't worry about it. Just keep going forward and the fun will find you.

Go on youtube and watch Wishes or Celebrate the Magic show. It always gets me in the Disney mood :goodvibes
