Here's the scene: We will be at Disney World from 10/11-10/16, so we will have 4 full park days in addition to our arrival day. We are coming down over college fall break- both DD21 and DH have the same time off! I am not sure what/how much to plan for our arrival day. We have an EARLY flight out of Portland, ME (5:55am) so we'll get up at 3:45am to be at the airport by 4:45am!
Our flight arrives at MCO at 11am. We are staying at BWV on rented points, so I don't anticipate our room will be ready until 4pm. Although we'll have a rental car, I am considering sending DH and DD on DME so that Disney will be handling our luggage. We will have bathing suits, tooth brushes, etc. in our carry-ons that will be WITH us. I cannot decide how much and what to plan for that day, figuring that at 4pm we'll go to BWV to check in, and probably take a little snooze. I did NOT make ADRs for supper that evening.
I am considering several options for Saturday but am worried I am being too ambitious for arrival day. Current, tentative plan:
>Graze Food&Wine for lunch, schedule a Behind the Seeds tour for 2:30pm and a Soarin' FP+ at 3:30, then check in and relax awhile.
>Dinner? I am worried that if I book an ADR we are going to be too tired from traveling and I'll lose my deposit. One thought is to just go down to the ESPN CLub or Big River Grill whenever we get hungry (shouldn't need an ADR, should I?), or do quick service in Epcot (we are doing a full Epcot day later in the week, having lunch at the Biergarten and then grazing at F&W throughout the evening). What I would really like to do is drive over to POFQ and take the boat to DTD for dinner at Raglan Rd. or Paradisio 37, but I think we'd need reservations for that and is there enough time before Illuminations?
>Evening: Illuminations is at 10pm, so we want to be in Epcot for that. As we are going to Disney to celebrate DD's 21st birthday, I was thinking of maybe booking the Epcot after-hours party at the Cava del Tequila for a tequila flight and evening snacks. However, I am wondering if we'll all be too tired to really enjoy it. It's the only time the after-hours party will be happening during our trip.
>An alternate plan would be to have a birthday cake delivered to our room while we are in Epcot for Illuminations. I know DD would be surprised and enjoy it, and we could get to bed relatively early, so we'd be well-rested and ready for our four days at WDW!
I know, I am the one who knows my family best and only I can decide. DD21 is my WDW partner in crime, and she'll go until she drops, but she doesn't want to come back to school (college, and work, and Nutcracker rehearsals) dog tired. DH is NOT the biggest Disney fan, so while I don't want to exhaust him, I DO want to wow and impress him. I guess I really am just looking for opinions, and input on the Epcot After-Hours party (or whatever they are calling it- I can never remember!). I'd also welcome suggestions for "different" things to do while we are at WDW this time- the first trip where we are all "adults!" (Considering Jellyrolls one night what do you think?)
