Not sure if this is the right board, but I have to ask anyhow..

Banned for life or not - why would he & his SO want to go back to Disney??????

A thought just occurred to me. Eric said they took him back to their hotel and he was escorted off Disney property. Do you think they found more ill-gotten-gains there and that is where the ban came from?

Disney might do this (this is JUST MY SPECULATION) for shoplifting, fighting, entering the park without valid admission, attacking a CM, creating a hazard on a ride... I would imagine it would have to be something really serious that would rise above a CM scolding you and telling you to behave.

Like I said, I could imagine a Disney store banning someone for say a year if they were caught shoplifting. Maybe if the amount stolen rose to the level of a felony, they might ban for life. I suppose it would depend on the infraction and how much danger the person put a CM and/or other guest(s) in by their actions.

Those situations were more along the lines of what I was thinking also.. Just to be safe though, I'm not even going to drop any crumbs on the ground - let alone take a "shopping bag" that's offered to me by a CM!! :scared1: ;)

I was also open minded and supportive when reading his thread. The whole thing seemed extreme to me & DH and we thought they had been set up.

I guess I was the one who was set up :rotfl2: Just too much that doesn't make any sense!

That's sad.. :( The other part that really threw me was that his SO lost his job here in NY over something so minor in FL.. There have been police officers, sheriffs, State Police, town police, etc.; who have been accused of much, MUCH worse here in NY and normally they are simply suspended until the issue is resolved.. :confused3
Exactly! And it was hard to tell which one was the cop -- the poster or his SO or both. Which left me asking which one was the psychologist (as claimed in another thread) and which was the CM at TDS (as claimed in still another thread).

So many questions... so few answers.

However, banned for life from all of Disney for $68 of Disney trinkets? Maybe banned from DTD for a year -- that I might swallow. And even then I doubt Disney would invest much, if any, effort in monitoring the ban.

I can't imagine a company the size of Disney banning for life for $68.00. Not even my store does this and we are not anywhere remotely close to the size of Disney. Usually that dollar amount will get you an appearance ticket and fine, plus repay the amount of stolen merchandise. You might get banned for 2 years, but that is the highest I have seen anyone banned for for that small of a dollar amount.

According to the poster, they "love" going to Disney. On another Internet message board, the individual was/is very active in Disney pin collecting, trading and selling. But lots of those posts have been edited or deleted now. :scratchin

All I know after reading through those threads, I want every single DIS'r on my legal team if I ever get accused falsely of something! :worship:

Not your legal team, you want them on your jury!

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!! :thumbsup2

I have only heard of one "banning for life" incident, and it was secondhand from DD, who knew one of the participants from high school. Apparently, a few years ago some UCF students hid out after closing (or snuck in, it's been a while) and managed to steal one of the parking trams, minus the seats. They were caught, arrested, the whole bit, and were "banned" for life.

I also have no idea how WDW will enforce it.

I have to admit, I've been very curious over this too. It just seems like such a harsh punishment for shoplifting $68. I too, supported the OP in his claims but further on I guess I missed a lot and the tale became longer. I still am not sure what really happen but I wonder about the life time eviction. When some tough questions were asked, the poster(s) took their posts and stayed home. If they are banned, how are they planning a trip? I wish they would have stayed and answered the questions so we could all have a better understanding on how those things are handled at Disney.

The individual in question has, up to early this morning, been communicating with me via PM. I've asked for clarification on a number of questions only to receive very little in the way of explanation. All the person wants is for everyone to believe everything they said was the absolute truth, which is too difficult to do given the numerous irreconcilable differences. Even in the PMs, details are still changing. Unfortunately, because of this, I am not sure I'd believe anything this individual said.

He (they) want the warm fuzzies from DIS but don't want to give out the entire truth?

It's an interesting topic, I think it's too bad they weren't willing to continue the discussion and what made me question the whole thing was the fact that they edited out most of their posts.

Let me add Tigger Magic, thank you very much for responding to my posts....lol, I rarely have anyone respond to my posts and I was starting to wonder if nobody saw anything I wrote! :lmao:

I don't blame you, I took a gander at his previous posts on other topics, and for a person who claims to be a Disney Store CM and someone that has "spent thousands of $$$ traveling to WDW over the years", he was asking a lot of basic newbie questions about booking the resorts using codes and CM discounts (and he wouldn't get a CM discount now that Disney Store is owned by Childrens Place anyway, right?). I don't think I'd believe anything he'd say on any topic at this point.

i'm still laughing at the 'special bag' part...soo hard to believe in my OP......Maybe it's a 'magic' bag?????

I am just coming across all this, so I just read through the entire community board thread and part of the Theme Park Strategies thread where he observes the shoplifting and appalled. He has now deleted almost all of his posts from the latter thread.

When I read the banned for life thread it didn't make any sense. I work in retail part time and the entire inventory of DTD would be so screwed up with a bag like that and could never work since there are stores not owned by Disney. The room situation didn't sound on the up and up either. His partner losing his job sounds outrageous too.

If it is all true I hope that everything works out and his SO gets his job back.

I did want to add that I work a regular job and then a couple hours a week in retail for the stores discount. I have worked with lawyers, students, teachers, lunchladies and stay at home moms (and mostly every person that is part time is there for the discount too). So I can see how these two could have regular jobs and one got a job at the Disney Store.

I have one of these "magic" bags - it's white with blue handles. It's a 50th anniversay commemorative bag available for $10 with the purchase of $40 or more.

I believe Eric and Kevin misunderstood how the bag was supposed to work. I don't believe they were ever to leave WOD with it.

They were trespassed from the property basically because Disney considered them trouble-makers since they had already had the argument with the hotel mgr.

Disney can and frequently does toss people off property. They are cited for trespassing by the Orange County Sheriff's Dept. I know all this cuz DH was a security mgr for Disney. He has done some of the tossing.

As I mentioned before, the trespass order says forever but can range in actuality from 1 to 3 years.

To sum up:
the bag exists
Disney can toss you off property if they want

Hope some of this clears some things up.

Actually there is a big blue bag that you can buy for $5.00 that has handles that could be the bag.

It's THAT bag????? OMG, I just bought that bag last month. I love it. Nothing confused me about it, there are even signs up all over about spending so much money and get it for $10.
