Heading to WDW and (absolutely warmer) conditions from what I am leaving behind at home.....
What do all of you "Northerners" do about your furnace settings when you are away for an extended period of time???
Don't want to come home to frozen/bursted water pipes...but am worried about my furnace running while we are gone...
Any advice is so greatly appreciated and a huge thanks in advance:bounce:

We're in Michigan and we have had success with leaving it at 58 degrees. It really depends on your insulation and if you have any pipes on outside walls that you've had problems with. Maybe do a quick check on the 10 day forecast for your area too. That might help you make a better decision. Enjoy your trip!:D

We leave ours on 60-62 degrees....I don't want to kill the house plants!

We also set ours to about 60-65 or so... same as we do for daytime settings when no one is home.

Good question..... havent thought about that......... prolly around 65..... but we also ALWAYS shut off the water at the Main....

This time around though...... we are having a freind stay at our place, he lives with his mother (his apartment building was sold and they wanted to jack the rent up over $500 bucks a month) so since he is a 30 something guy living with his mother (and she has a boyfriend) we offered to give him some respite.

We leave it at 60 degrees. We can't shut off the water; our heating system is forced hot water. Our neighbors all have keys to our house and look in on it periodically.:D

We have radiant heat through a good part of the house, that just stays at 72, it takes too long to cool off and warm up. The part of the house with baseboard we turn down to 62

I don't know how much warmer we are here...40 degrees tonight. Brrr that's cold for Florida. lol :teeth:

we leave ours at 67 -- normally have a house sitter to watch over everything if we're gone over 2 days -- have a "tiny" 130 pound Alaskan Malamute that needs TLC too

We always set ours at 65 and have neighbors check every other day.
