.......... The next time we are planning to go back to WDW is for DS1 21st birthday celebration and I've just worked out that it's 905 days away :rotfl2::eek: :rotfl2::eek:

Now is the time to think about staying off site & think of other places to visit as well as a few days at Disney .

When he is 21 ask Him if he would like to drive around and see more of Florida ?

We will be there in just over a day - going Friday morning - my DD's 21st birthday is on Saturday. Doesn't seem two minutes since we took her for the first time at age 6.

We gave her a choice as to what she wants to do and she is happy to stay put in a Universal resort and just do the two Universal parks (we are only going for a week due to her work commitments) - we are also going to the Hard Rock Café for her 21st dinner.

A long countdown means more time to save, so either more spending money, or think about something special to do there (a couple of nights in a deluxe hotel, a special meal, one of the experiences, Discovery Cove dolphin swim etc), particularly as there is a special birthday.

Plus more planning time!!!

Better to have a date, even a long way away, than an "I don't know ehen we will go back"

Whoo Hoo we're down to 854 days :rainbow:

At the moment the tentative plans are 3 weeks at The Yacht Club with a couple of nights at the beginning of the second week at Universal.

The number of us going seems to be growing. As well as the 4 of us, my sister, her partner and her DS2 hope to be coming as well as my sisters DS1 and his partner and their gorgeous baby son who will be 2 1/2 by then. Also my mum hopes to join us as well as our very good friends from New York and their daughter. So at the moment the running total is 11 adults and 1 under 3 child.

The celebrations seem to be accumulating as well as it's my nephews 21st 12 weeks after our DS1, my mum's 80th is Feb 2018 and my sisters partners 50th is March 2018 so we really will be having a party :yay::yay::yay:

Our countdown was originally some crazy number of days, under 900 but it seemed like it was so far off at one point, now we are down to the last 2 weeks and it's sailed by, got no idea where the time has gone! Three weeks at YC with all your family and friends sounds wonderful!

It sounds like it will be a great party worth waiting for. Our countdown was originally over 400 days, now we are down to the last 3 and it has flown by. I'm sure yours will too. :goodvibes

We booked ours at around 520 days out. It has seriously shot by because we created some mini milestones / countdowns along the way to give us something to look forward to. First, we started researching absolutely everything - we bought the dining guides from DisneyFoodBlog to decide which places we wanted to visit - that alone took a good couple of weeks to get through. We then started planning each day on a spreadsheet - starting with what park we would visit each day, followed by which ADR's we wanted at which times. Then the first big milestone hit before we knew it - our ADR's (if you're doing any), which for you, is now only around 673 days away. Then after that your FastPass+ reservations, then after that, food pre-order (if dining at BoG). We've been listening to Disney podcasts most evenings to extend the magic and watched lots of videos on YouTube (we really like watching TheTimTracker's Disney VLogs - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF46C75CDA6C7710B). We have been tweaking the plan as we find out new things.

Honestly, the time will by. It really seemed to speed up even faster once we got under 100 days.

Thank for the suggestions but as this will be our 12th visit in 17 years I don't think we'll need to do as much research as you suggest LOL!!

We have our "must do" restaurants for dinners and by then there will certainly be new ones to try such as those in Disney Springs. Also there are ones we've never tried yet i.e. Cali Grill, Artist Point, and Narcosse.

We've never done quite such a long trip before, although our trip last year was for 18 days but we've not been to Universal in at least 10 or more years so that will need investigating and the last time we went over the Xmas/NYE time was 2007 so I'm sure things will have changed.

so let's see....the next trip for the 8 of us (probably will be 10 or more by then), will be in 2,160 days....that's August 2023... (assuming we can afford the trip then....)

hopefully a smaller group of us will go before then, but the full group is hoping to be able to make it back to WDW in 2023...
