Our first trip, DH, myself, and 2 girls, ages 4&6. We have the following ADRs, and are paying oop.

1st day: lunch at the Plaza
2nd day: lunch at Akershus with the princesses
3rd day: dinner at Cali Grill (meeting with inlaws for special dinner)
4th day: dinner at Raglan Rd. (really excited about this one!)
5th day: dinner at Whispering Canyon

We want to do something fun for our last evening, but I'm torn on Whispering Canyon. We will be at MK that day, so our dinner can't be in a different park.

Any non-dining event suggestions? Thanks!

Kids LOVE Whispering Canyon and the food is ok!!! You might wanna try the T-REX Cafe in DTD, we always have a blast there!!!

I think if you want fun, WCC would definitely fit the bill. We love the interaction with the cast members there. I like the food a lot, too.

We did not care for it, loud beyond fun, crazy not charming and the food was cold. We did like the Trails End at Wilderness Campgrounds. It is a nice boat ride over there and the food was very good.
just our experience.

We love WCC, why are you not sure about it? What concerns you?

I always say if the menu appeals to everyone in the group then chances are you will like it. If not, then most likely you won't.

WCC is fun for kids. The ketchup runs, the loudness and the antics along with stick pony races what is not to like when you are a kid??

Now as adults it can get a bit nerve racking but for the food we go. Dinner has never been a disappointment for us there.

We spent over 2 hours at WCC because we were having so much fun lol. Our server was HILARIOUS and spent the entire time teasing my friend's daughter. To be fair she's a 17 y/o who had been to BBB the day before and got the punk hair do that was sticking up all over the place, and likes to not use her brain....ever hahaha! We were teasing her too, so he played right along-it was FANTASTIC because she thought he was super hot. The food wasn't 5 star dining, and I have had better BBQ, but it was good. The milkshakes were super yummy and we will definitely be eating there again.

It seems that Whispering Canyon Cafe gets some bad "press" here on the DIS. I have been there many times with my kids. They absolutely love it! It is loud and zany, which most kids love.

I say keep your plan! WHispering Canyon has good food, good staff, and is alot of fun. Take the boat from Magic Kingdom for a nice relaxing ride to dinner. If you are eating late you may get to see the water parade while on the boat.
Have a great trip!:thumbsup2

We hated WC, even my kids asked never to go back. Too loud, too frenetic and the ketchup thing is just gross with all those hands grabbing the bottles - yuck. Never again.

If you are at MK that day, I'd go to the
Crystal Palace or Liberty Tree.

Whats the difference with ketchup already being at your table, and ketchup that is being brought to you?? Either way, many hands had touched the bottle already. :confused3

That. And what about buffets, with all the hands touching the serving utensils kept with the food? I can't imagine they're replaced as each family goes through.

If you are looking for a "fun" meal near MK, I think you should also consider Ohana. Again, my mantra, inconsistency--you will hear rants and raves about everywhere--BUT...we think the food at Ohana is better.

Just one note about either place though--Ohana or WC. If you are LOOKING to be part of the fun, please make sure you note this when you check in. Both places we have been seated in the "quiet" areas where the action doesn't take place. The folks at Ohana came around and rounded up any kids that wanted to participate, but not at WC and they actually missed it all. And at both places, you couldn't even watch the action from your table in the "quiet areas"--if you wanted to watch your kids limbo, etc., you had to get up from your table and walk into another section while your food sat on the table and got cold. NOW I know, but....

Also, what about all of those butts that have been on those chairs all these years?!? Ewwwww!

For 2 young girls, I'd pick something else. Whispering Canyon is fun if you like some silly joking around. DS5 likes it. It is expensive, our bill was $119 for 2 adults and DS5.... appetizers, the skillets, and dessert. The food is just basic BBQ type food, very average quality or below. We are debating this for our upcoming trip, might cancel it and pick something else. The boat ride from Magic Kingdom to there is enjoyable.

There are some other fun character meals. If your girls like Pooh... we love Crystal Palace -- you get Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, and Tigger.... the buffet is much high quality than your usual buffet... and it's a great location right in Magic Kingdom. Both WCC and CP restaurants are reviewed in my 2010 review (link below).

We liked 1900 Park Fare too. The breakfast buffet has Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, and Mad Hatter... and usually Tigger and Pooh too. The dinner was nice but very crowded.... you get Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters. Food good enough at both... We went for the stepsisters!

IMO the only good thing about the 1900PF breakfast was the character interaction.... the food was gross and the servers were stretched so thin for such a large area we barely saw her for coffee refills, etc. I'd not go back.
