Not sure $149 Disney After Hrs event is doing well... (ETA: reviews in 1st post)

I think Disney can do whatever they want with admission I really don't care. I think an empty theme park is boring. The crowds make things exciting. However, when they charge 19.00 for a hamburger they are price gouging, period, end of story. So, Disney management, you are greedy.

this whole after hours event thing seems really ad hoc...
Which lends credence to the theory that this is some sort of "shoulder season" experiment intended to provide insight as to some other master plan. Elimination of EMH? Drastic increase in pricing for MNSSHP and MVMCP? Monetization of new, sure-to-be popular attractions such as Avatar, Star Wars and Frozen Ever After? The current event seems to have been thrown together hastily, promoted poorly, and not set up for long term viability.

Report in that tonight is "sold out" so hopefully reviews will be a good judge of value.

EDITED: Party was not sold out. Low number of tickets sold, supplemented with free tickets to DVC members on property with "limited availability."

I have had PAP for years, never a break. This year I let them expire end of January because (1) I cancelled our big May trip due to the chaos (2) My April and short May trip will involve non-Disney park trips for other things and parks (3) I don't do summer with the Mouse. The loss of months between Jan and Sept outweighed the renewal discount.

But Disney knows none of this. SO a family with PAP's for many years and 5-6 visits a year does not renew. I am now going on 90 days out. I have not received ONE email or snail mail to remind me, to ask me why I haven't renewed, nothing ....................... absolutely nothing.
I have not heard a thing either....before or after my pass expired.

Lots of comments on Twitter under the hashtag #disneyafterhours for those looking for live reports. 26 attractions open, reports are 3000 tickets "sold" (or comped, through the DVC thing) which is capacity. Casey's appears to be the only food option, other than the ice cream and soda

Heading to the event now. I'm going home tomorrow. I'm a DVC member, received the email to attend the event and thought how can I not do this. So I registered, I'll share my thoughts. I'm pretty excited.

Just followed those tweets. Looks like there might have been some yucky weather for tonights event. May not get a true idea of how it affected crowd levels. :confused3

Don't know if its been reported or not, but someone else is essentially live blogging this on social media, posting pictures of what looks like a GHOST TOWN.

Anyway, they also reported having asked CMs about how many tickets were actually sold vs given away, and reported only 1000 sold. Take that for what its worth from a CM, don't know if they tried to confirm with multiple CMs.

I've seen more than one person marvel at how this is a sellout without mentioning the DVC addition. Interesting.

I also see that the people mover is not included. That surprises me.

Apparently you can just walk on to Mine Train. Ahh I am so tempted to go in 2 weeks, but just cannot justify the price for 2 tickets no matter how I look at it. Particularly when the NZD is so bad at the moment.

Does anyone know on what day, todays event became "sold out" (cough DVC cough) and you stopped being able to buy tickets?

The reason Disney lets party ticket holders enter at 4, and After Hours ticket holders enter at 7, is for traffic flow. Imagine what a disaster it would be if they had a park full of day guests exiting the park at the same time thousands of party goers were trying to enter. Allowing entry on party tickets a few hours prior to the actual start time of the after-hours event helps stagger the time those guests enter the park so they don't have thousands all trying to get in at once. In theory.
