Not sure $149 Disney After Hrs event is doing well... (ETA: reviews in 1st post)

It said "RSVP" "limited availability" "act fast" so first come first in on the invite. I did not take it as all DVC on site can go.

You do realize, don't you, that #1 stands in direct contradiction to #s 2 and 3.
You should not purchase or add on real estate interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort in reliance upon the continued availability or renewal or extension of these offers.

they put this in everything now and in the contracts. says right there perks can come and go so i don't understand what you mean?

Dude, you need to find a different supermarket. $5.00 Oreos? Surprise nonrefundable purchases? Smirking, shrugging Customer Service clerks? Are you really only going to use one package of Oreos in the next three or six months?

It'd be shocking if 6,000 people were all at the tapstyles at exactly 7 PM - so the barrage is really a flow, spread out over several hours. Disagree there will be enough guests entering from 7 on to anger existing guests. More guests attend - so enter MK as early as 4 - MNSSHP and MVMCP. Restricting the hard-ticketed event guests to entry only when/after the event starts deprives many of the time they paid for.

Back when WDW did this, there was a hard closing and complete sweep of the park at 6 PM. That seems entirely unreasonable toward regular guests.

Guess I gotta disagree! I was in the MK and saw the huge number of party guests lined up in the entire area to await 4pm.
It was huge and kind of scarey!
It is human nature to take advantage of opportunities presented. If the DAH is touted as 10pm to 1am, but then they say you can get into the MK at 7pm, I feel most of them will get to the park for 7pm opening. Every comment I've read on DAH reflects this attitude of arriving when they can to take advantage of extra hours before the main event!
So, I do believe that these events will impact the regular park guests. Time will tell. I am watching this with everyone else to see what really happens.

I think most people will be arriving at 7 too, more bang for their buck. $150 for 3 hours in the park or for 6? Its a no brainer, at least to me.

Just reread your responding post, and had to comment on something else.
It Is not infringing on the party guests rights if they start having the guests arrive when the event is supposed to start and end. It is advertised as 3 hours at 10pm to 1am. It does not say that it is a 6 hour event starting at 7pm to 1am. Therefore, nothing is being taken away from the party guests but a courtesy that WDW uses (and can take away at any time).
So, I stand by the 3 hour event as advertised, not the early entry at 7pm.
I still feel it will impact the crowds because most if not all guests will surely take advantage of early entry. Just check out the crowds waiting at 4pm for Christmas party. I know there are more people at these parties, but it seems most of them arrive early. I've experienced it. I also think 6000(or whatever the magic number really is) is a big number to enter a crowded park.
The only guests this might infringe on are the regular paid admission guests, IMHO, only.

IIRC the announcement of the event does state 7 as the start time of the event and the added bonus is the after the park closes hours.

No, it doesn't require a separate admission ticket. I was looking at one of these events for my dd if they are still doing it when she goes. Since I was planning on getting her a 1 day ticket anyway, the $149 instead isn't so crazy. I wouldn't mind if Disney decided the price could come down though.

Does the $149 cover the whole day in the MK plus the extra 3 hours? I thought it was just for "after hours"

I was going by what was posted in this thread when the event was announced.

More Magic in Less Time
Treat yourself to a classic Magic Kingdom experience—complete with select attractions, ice cream novelties and more.

By purchasing a ticket to Disney After Hours, you can make the most of a truly magical occasion when Magic Kingdom park lets you in for the last few hours of the day… and then stays open for 3 extra hours at night, just for Guests of the event!

I can't believe Disney would think a lot of people would be willing to pay $150 for 3 hours in the park, low crowds or not. I'm sorry, but unless you have money to burn (like 1% of the population), asking people to spend this kind of money is insane.

They don't clearly state a "start time" for the event.... lol... the after hours is from either 10 or 11... but they let you in at 7:00.... soooo..... does it start at 7:00 or 10/11..... ??? (I have my opinion....) and I'm sure others have their opinions.... I love how Disney words it to make it ambiguous enough to be clear as mud....

What's unclear about it? In the copy above after hours starts at either 10 or 11 pm, with check in beginning at 7.

I thought that it started at 10/11... but it seems at if many others feel as if it starts at 7:00.... that's what's so unclear...

You say they can "check in" but really.... they are coming in and starting at 7....

but it's all just semantics....

I took it to mean that as part of the event they let you in at 7 and then you can enjoy the after hours when the park closes. It also says this, so you can take it that 7 is the official start time of the "event", maybe LOL.

    • Official check-in for the event will take place at the Main Entrance to the theme park beginning at 7:00 PM.

Right. Responding to the quote above "The people getting the free tickets are those that belong to DVC. We pay dues. We have paid to be a member. It's a perk being offered that is free." Dues is not paying for this.

Let me back up. Cause I said about the dues. I should not have said that. We don't know for sure but you would assume dues don't go towards this. Sorry my bad.
DVC just doesn't give away anything for free, nothing is for free. It has to come out of some budget item, management fee or something. Yes I agree those who purchased resale after get screwed, but they need to find out from what budget item these things come from. There are more planned this year and some that have passed, Typhoon Lagoon to name one. Someone has to pay for these perks and it is you and me DVC members dues somehow.
These are separate from the parks, and I would not be surprised if the parks called up DVC and said numbers are down, we will float you x tickets at x$, not full pop and you can look good for the members onsite right now. Just my thoughts.
