I arrived at OKW for a 3 night stay on December 10 at 3:15 pm. I'm told my studio is ready, in building 31. Whoah. I booked at 11 months, the first moment I could, and booked Hospitality House.
Nope, sorry. Something happened. No Hospitality House.
So I go not very happily to the room. I get in via MagicBand, drop off a bag. Go back out for the other bag, come back, and can't get into the room.
A CM is there, she calls the desk. They'll send someone immediately. Fifteen minutes later, no one is there, so I head to Hospitality House pretty ticked off.
I'm told that the "runner" was just at my room, and will meet me at HH soon.
A very nice young lady named Dee arrives about a half hour later. We're back at my room at 4:35. She gets me in, calls tech to disassemble the door lock.
The door lock is OK. So she takes my MagicBand to check it at HH. While she's gone, I hear a dripping. It is now 5:50 pm.
The AC by the kitchenette is dripping onto the carpet. When the compressor shuts, water pours out.
Dee arrives back at the room, with a gift basket. I show her the dripping. Dee says this just won't do, I can't be there while it's repaired. She says she will transfer me to a 1 BR!
So thanks to Dee, what started out as a very bad Welcome, was turned around due to her conscientiousness--and an upgrade!

Pleased they turned it round for you but not such a great start!

Got to say, I've had literally dozens of check ins at OKW without any real disasters (a few needed a quick phone call to put right the odd thing though) but I know there's always a first time ..... !

Enjoy the rest of your stay.

We had the same issue with the our bands when we checked in at BCV. No more MB problems the rest of the trip (took a bit longer though).

Nice to get a basket and an upgrade. Hope the rest of your trip was magical.

So is this your first stay in a 1 BR? If so, lots of extra room isn't it? The 1 BRs at OKW are the best! So what building are you in now?

The one bedroom is fantastic!
I was in building 29.
I was there 3 nights, and then stayed 2 nights at Beach Club Villas, and then 5 nights at Villas at the Grand Floridian. A lot of moving, but 3 great places!

If you haven't done so already please post on the Thank You thread and send to MS your experience both the good and bad parts.
Make sure you were not charged for HH that you booked if you did not get a HH studio.

I intend to write a letter. How do I send to "MS"?
Oddly, when I look at my "completed vacations" it has arrived AND departed December 10, 2013, "deluxe studio," and quotes 30 points. Actually, I arrived Dec. 10 and departed Dec. 13. But the number of points is correct; I was not charged for a 1 BR.
Thanks and happy holiday!

We had a less than Magical arrival at OKW on Nov 29th. We were switching from BWV checked in at 10AM. Knew the room wouldn't be ready so left to meet family at DHS. Made sure they had the right info to text us when the room was ready. Around 5PM got a text to go to front desk. When we got to front desk they started checking us in again. When we said we just want our room number they had no idea about the text. Got our room number went to the room. I had requested a raised toilet seat(I confirmed this a the first check in). It wasn't there. DH went to call Housekeeping, the living room phone wasn't working, tried to turn on lamp to see what the problem was and the lamp didn't work. Went to bedroom to use that phone and it didn't work and that lamp didn't work! Finally got enough light from another lamp in LR to find the problem. Apparently the previous occupant used a hearing impaired device on the phones and they needed to be hooked up. Finally able to call housekeeping, took a while for them to come. Any way, a received an e-mail survey when we got home. I told them about the phone and lamp issues. To my surprise a received a call this week from DVC . The caller apologized for our problem and assured me that my info was being passes along to many different departments. She thanked me for my comments and said if no one tells them about problems the can't fix them. So lesson is please report any problems.

HH is the same amount of points

HH is the same amount of points

Yes, HH is same amount of points. However, I checked to make sure I wasn't charged points for the 1 BR. When I arrived and wasn't given HH, they offered me a 2 BR near HH--if I paid the points!

This aggravates me...SOMEONE who didn't book HH got your room. I didn't hear, oh it's out of service, we really apologize....I've heard people complaining about their room assignment at check in and OH, we have an HH available....next time I hear that sentence, I'm going to step forward and ask to immediately see a supervisor. UNLESS there is actually a vacancy for that persons ENTIRE stay. They need to not give out HH to persons that didn't reserve. Im quite nervous about our GV HH as there are only 2 available and my DD walked the stupid reservation as they felt that strongly about staying HH. I guess I will be checking in very EARLY to ensure "my" HH isn't given to a complainer. Sorry folks, but you know when you don't reserve HH and get it you've probably bumped your Disboards friends off of of their reservation. :surfweb:

I was told that my room "might have" been taken out of service. But then they sent me to a room with a leaking air conditioner!

We had a similar experience last month at VWL. We had been trying to book there for so long and were so thrilled to be staying there. However it turned out to be not as magical as we'd hoped. We had done online check in but our time at the front desk was unbelievably long. Then we get a text to come back to the desk because they had only checked in one of our two rooms. :confused3 Then our room was not cleaned very well at all. The DW was full of dirty dishes and the dryer took forever to dry anything. We did not get any of our requests met, which I do understand, but it was just one more mishap. Thankfully we moved to SSR after five days and everything went wonderfully over there. :thumbsup2

Have stayed at Disney World since 2004 with our DVC point at least 2 times per year and couldn't have had better service from any other company. With thousands of people coming through Disnay dailey some things will happen.

We had a similar problem at SSR in Nov. Our Magic Bands opened the room door with no problems until the 3rd day in to the trip. We got back from MK and could not get in. Went to the Springs and they said a runner would meet us at the room. We waited 35 minutes and no one showed up. Finally, I flagged down a maintenance man who was standing around. He said he'd help us & he did so fairly quickly. The door battery was deal and needed replaced. Got in the room just in the knick of time to get ready for our dinner ADR.
