Not so scary Halloween party tickets

I was checking out (said my date was available and I got all the way to the payment screen), then all of a sudden it wouldn't let me complete the purchase. I called and was told that my date had just sold out. They said that sometimes tickets open up after selling out due to people canceling, but obviously the tickets are non-refundable...so I am wondering if any one has ever had a shot at getting tickets even after having your date sell out? Do tickets really become available again sometimes? I know it's not a guarantee. I'm just wondering if I should keep trying or not waste my time. My girls and I have a last minute trip down there planned for September and we can only go on Sept. 17th...we've never been to MNSSHP and we'd love to check it out...but I don't want to invest precious time checking and re-checking and re-checking again and again if there's no chance at all.

I did call and she said that tickets do become available after selling out at times...especially outside of October months...but who knows.

That really stinks that they sold out on you at the last second. People do cancel though. While the tickets are "non-refundable" Disney will often let you apply the cost toward another party or special event ticket. So if people's schedules change, it is definitely possible. They are also known to actually refund, though that is usually due to extenuating circumstances and may vary by the CM/manager handling it. You know Disney, they are pretty amenable about such things.

So, there is definitely a chance, though I don't know how common it really is or what the timing might be - as in, are cancellations common at the last minute? Does it take time for them to land back in inventory? It may be slim, but not impossible. Good luck!

Last year we had 3 tickets to MNSSHP and at the last minute, our son decided to join our vacation. The CM at Magic Kingdom Guest Services didn't bat an eye, "Of course we can get you another ticket!" So, I think there can be availability.

This is the only scenario where Disney consistently sells another ticket to a sold out party. If a party is already booked and one person wants to join. This has been known to be allowed even via phone prior to the party date.
