Not So Irate At Dvc Right Now! UPDATED & Resolved

Here's another example of why we DVC'ers really need a real-time online reservation system (and a similar waitlist system) for our DVC resorts. Not the "submit the form" system we currently have for ressies, which is dealt with by a MS staff person later (no different from calling it in). We should be able to check availability online and book immediately based on that information - and have it all processed electonically at that same moment.

This is done by all major hotels, and its time we had it too. I've heard that this is being planned by DVC. Good! Its time we had the control over making our own ressies, and not worrying about some monkey at MS messing it up.

Patience..... We're just finishing upgrading VCRs to DVD players. :(

That's the part that has me most upset. The fact that I got the GV and now it's gone....that's what has me so irate. Let me tell you this: if they can't produce a GV for me, then Jim Lewis's office is getting a call. Many, many calls if necessary.

Man, if that had happened to me Jim Lewis's office would be getting a flaming bag of dog poop!

I hope they can make it right for you...

It reminds me of what I go through at work. When doing online transactions with real-time ordering websites, the order goes through and I have confirmation of what I've done. 99.9% of the time, no errors or backorders. Hotels are never a problem this way. I have faith in this process as it reduces any "human" errors to a minimum. :goodvibes

However, when I call anything in (shudder), 50% of the time errors are made or I have to place many follow-up calls to get anything done properly. I have NO faith in calling anything in - hotel reservations included. :headache:

PS: Yes, I see the arrival of the DVD players now - just in time for us to bring our Blu-Ray disks to DVC resorts (to use as Year of a Million Dreams coasters). :rolleyes2

Update:

So, I wait for MS to call me back. No call. So I called and asked to speak to the same supervisor I spoke to earlier.

MS: Sorry, she is gone for the day.

K&C: No she's not. Please put me on hold until she can come to the phone.

MS: OK. *Disney muzak*

MS: Ma'am, I cannot find her, can I take your number?

K&C: OK. Here's my number, but please let her know that I need to hear from her before 4:30 or I will reach out to Jim Lewis.

MS: Ok, I'll let her know.

On the way home, my cell phone rang.

MS: We're SO sorry. We reviewed the tape and you're completely right. They should have never taken you out of the villa and put you in a 2-bedroom. Again, we're so sorry. We put you back in a Villa!

K&C: In OKW??? You found a villa in OKW?

MS: Yes, one became available.

K&C: Thank you VERY MUCH!!!!!!! :worship: :worship: :goodvibes

Well, everyone, thank you for your kind words of encouragement!! I'm still shocked that an "extra" villa miraculously appeared from the heavens ;) .

Moral: Document every time you call MS. Write down the name of the MS rep you talk to. Check your reservations frequently to make sure MS doesn't do the same thing to YOU!!!!

I'm glad it got corrected for you. Way to stand your ground.

Now I'm waiting for the post from someone who got a GV via waitlist only to have it pulled back! Easy come, easy go?

A happy ending, for a story that never should have happened! I am glad for you.

Glad everything worked out.

Yup. ::yes::

I have an OKW Grand Villa booked from 12/7 - 12/12; OP's experience prompted me to login and recheck -- which I think I'll be doing from time-to-time from now 'til then! :surfweb: At least my dates are later, so it isn't my GV that they suddenly found! ;)

Anyway, I'm glad it worked out ok. But if they hadn't been able to find another unit for you, think of the possibilities.....Presidential Suite at the Contemporary might be a suitable replacement, or perhaps the King Kamehameha Suite at the Polynesian; maybe the Royal Asante Suite at Animal Kingdom Lodge would do....same 36 points-per-night cost, of course! :rotfl2:

I'm also happy to see it worked out for you!

...But I'm confused.
If they can mysteriously find a GV now, why couldn't they find one 2 hours ago?

Glad it all worked out for you, but I am sorry you had to deal with all of that!

I would love to know how a villa suddenly became available as well. Don't they have some units available for "cash" customers? Maybe they gave me one out of that inventory. Who knows??!

I'm glad this worked out for you, I sure would like to know where that GV came from!
I was so paranoid about my upcoming trips, including a GV and BC at Vero, that I checked online to make sure everything was fine. It was :cool1:

Actually, that's probably what they did do. CRO probably have a few GVs for their cash customers. In this case, having this inventory for CRO proved beneficial to our DVC members!! Congratulations and have a wonderful trip! :cool1:

I did the same thing for our Aug ressie.

I'm glad it all worked out. Happy planning and enjoy your trip

Unfortunately, I'm afraid of this possibility: MS knows they messed up,so now they've just gone ahead and overbooked one extra GV that week. Every now and then, it seems we hear a story of people getting to their resort to find that the villa they reserved many months ago is no longer available and they have to either move to a different DVC resort,or move to a hotel. There's the outcry, "How can this happen?" (and invariably, someone gives a possible explanation so that it's not DVC's fault). Well, forgive my negativism, but this is an example of how it can happen. And here it certainly IS DVC's fault.

They dont rent out every available unit right away...There are always a "few" spares for problems like this...Disney is too smart a company not to do this...Glad it worked out!
