Not so common things to do...

Planning a holiday-time visit this year and looking for suggestions. We will go to MVMCP but what other special events/experiences might we look to do?
Six of us - Me/DH and kids (3-7-9-11)

I would definitely recommend seeing some of the resort decorations, especially the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian. It's really spectacular!

We also went to the Polynesian (get a Dole Whip here to avoid long lines at MK) and the Animal Kingdom Lodge (and have dinner at Boma- delicious!). We had intended to complete the 3 monorail resorts, but it broke down after our stop at Poly (walked to GF), so missed the Contemporary.

Take the Yultide Tour of WDW - It is a behind the scenes tour about the decorating of WDW for the holidays and you get to go to the Disney xmas warehouse. So worth it.

FW visit - At xmas the campers go all out decorating their campsites. Have dinner at Trails end and then take the hayride or walk thru some of the loops to see the decorations.

EC - Dont miss the Candlelight Processional!! The show is wonderful and will fill you with the xmas spirit. Make sure you reserve the dinner pkg as you also get reserved seating. Otherwise you will stand in a lengthy line for hours.

GF - each evening around five the cm's sing xmas carols, pass out cookies and then are followed by holiday music played by the band and pianist. We vist the Gingerbread house shop and then sit in the lobby and enjoy the atmosphere.

MK - At 5pm each day in town square there is a flag ceromony and they salute a Vet visiting the park that day. It is followed by a little show and the tree/Main St lighting ceromony.

I agree with the PP. Mini golf is fun.

If you have a car, it "snows" nightly in Celebration (about 8 minutes from the MK parking lot) from the Saturday after THanksgiving thru New Years Eve.

When are the resorts all decorated? In November or December?

On our winter trips (since we always rent a car) we usually go pick some citrus at Showcase of Citrus about 15 minutes from WDW. Then we have fresh citrus to snack on all week.

They should be in full dress no later than Thanksgiving.
