I am trying to finalize our itinerary and ADR's for October. We want to try some new places. I haven't seen much about Chefs de France. We were thinking about eating there our first night for this trip. Is it Ok for a 5 year old or is it too slow service wise? It has one of the better kids menus that I have seen. Has anyone taken kids there? Is this an OK choice

We are also eating at

Sci Fi (lunch)
Kona
Crystal Palace (breakfast)
LTT
whispering Canyon
Boma
Ohana
Le Cellier (DS has eaten there before with no problem)

We went to WDW when I was a teen and I had the most scrumptious Coq au Vin there. But now it seems like there are fewer, authentic (what *I* think of as authentic, LOL) French dishes on the menu.

Opinions anyone?

I'll have to check out that kids' menu again because we were thinking of dumping the kiddos in childcare to go here alone!

i suppose it makes as much sense for a 5 year old than any of the other restaurants there. i've eaten there and enjoyed it. first time i've ever had escargot and was pleasantly surprised. i even got to watch a bit of le serveur amusant from my table.

need to work my way up to the frogs legs at bistro though.

My DH and I ate lunch there in January. It was very nice, but I wouldn't take my 5 year old nephews. JMHO.

DD11 and I enjoyed a ladies lunch there last year with two other ladies. We shared the French menu and added an extra soup. Lots of food.

The menu has been watered down some, but it's still good.

It's fine for kids. When we've gone the service hasn't been any slower than other sit downs. It's fairly active and noisy (not overly noisy, but not quiet either).

If your son is fine at Le Cellier, he should be fine at Chefs.

I guess it really depends on the kid. I saw some REALLY rowdy kids there and they dominated the sound of the restaurant but I think that is because the parents did not know how to control their kids.

I have seen many younger children in the restaurant and they were enjoying themselves and there meals.

DH and I do not have children but have been twice and thoroughly enjoyed it each time!

We have taken our daughter at age 6 and 7, it's a fine family place.
Service is not "France" slow, but if you are concerned ask them to put in the child's selection early... and ask that it come out with your salad or appetizer.

The Chefs is more high-end food, often very cramped and
crowded. It's very fast-paced also. At least that's how it
seemed to me.

Yes, it is family friendly. Everything in D is family friendly. :-)

Double check the menu. I don't think I'd take a 5 year old there
however.

We took DS to Chefs when he was 4 & he loved it. And we took him there last time we went & he still loves it. Both times he had their version of a hamburger claims it is the best. Last time we went we took DD she was 4 & had a Chicken Breast & greenbeans & loved it.

The menu I saw looked pretty good for kids. Better than the average kids meals I have been seeing. We are taking my kids there. I am sure your server will time the meal to your desire. Most servers are good about reading your table. You could always mention to them that you are trying to rush, or be out by a certain time, trying to make a movie...whatever.

It is Disney World, though. I would not have a problem taking my kids anywhere there. Except for bars and rests without a kids menu of course. Anybody who is visiting Disney is going to realize there are going to be children and they are going to be excited, tired, cranky, exhausted, content and then the wind will change directions. I think the whole reason for Epcot is so that people or families can experience a little bit of other cultures where as they may not be able to actually travel overseas.
