Just noticed I missed this question. No, I have 100 points at Beach Club as my only resale now. We travel once per year usually and like to travel in low point winter seasons, and I anticipate staying in 2 bedroom 2042 locations about 2 out of 3 years (bringing along grandparents), and then a 3 bed studio (just the immediate family or a trip with the spouse) the 3rd year most of the time. Surprisingly this plan doesn’t require a ton of points!

As for the comment about getting Sorcerer passes above: I can likely do BCV 2 bedroom over spring break one year, and a January trip the next to get two visits with one pass. Or if that won’t work, we can do the MMB discounted day passes. Then the next year we do VDH or a studio or something. Spring break trips will only occur because I do want to minimize pulling my kids out of school most years, but it isn’t when I like to travel.

Most of the time I won’t need much more than the annual one time use points to pull this plan off. With banking, borrowing, staying 6 nights instead of 7 sometimes, and skipping a year every ten years or so (sometimes life happens?) you don’t really need a ton of points for this. You DO have to meticulously plan. Thankfully I LOVE meticulously planning.

I think my strategy from now on is just to travel in the lowest point season of september and may. Lower crowds make a huge difference and using less points seems like a no-brainer for us.

Did you do MB? I go back and forth with it. I could always use the points and I regretted buying a stripped blt, but $20 pp is actually really good for not having to do a thing and its so expensive and we already have points, im really leaning towards doing that.

I did MB since it was right before my use year. Made the difference even easier to swallow!

You are correct. From studying the point charts very closely, you can see that the 2042 resorts have lower overall points, but also peak less at peak seasons vs the newer resorts. CCV being the notable exception, which basically has a 2042 point chart but is newer (but also only has two sleeping surfaces until you hit a 2 bedroom…).

Im sure someone has done the math of a 2042 coming out ahead of PIT If so id love to see it But it makes sense, having to buy more points at a newer resorts could end up being more than a 2042

Probably the most miserly point saver move would be to buy PIT and stay at OKW all the time. Honestly wouldn’t be terrible either. Though I’ve heard it needs a refresh.

I'm debating on the magical beginnings too. I like the idea of saving the money as $3000 is not insignificant. But I'd love to have the points even though I'm pretty sure I'd just be banking the first years points as our 2026 trips are already decided. Unfortunately I'll be nowhere close to my use year if I buy in early 2026.

Probably the most miserly point saver move would be to buy PIT and stay at OKW all the time. Honestly wouldn’t be terrible either. Though I’ve heard it needs a refresh.

I have thought about buying riv to stay at pit esp if theres a mega closeout sale.

Okw is the only resort I havent seen yet in person. We actually went to SSR this last trip and walked the grounds and we actually liked what we saw! I liked the pastel colors and it looked fancier than what i envisioned. We liked the frog pool, it seemed like an upscale suburban community, I wasnt expecting that the way people talk about it

I wondered if it were smaller if it would be more highly regarded. I havent stayed there yet, but I wondered if perhaps it doesnt deserve the disrespect it gets, maybe im crazy but I thought it looked fancy Not the lobby or food area, but I liked walking the grounds and spotting different birds and wildlife. It was relaxing and peaceful. Perhaps if I had to utilize the internal bus loop after a long day id think differently, but im pretty patient with the bus

I wont be close to my uy either. I have two uy feb and dec, but I need to match my december because I already have two contracts in feb and I dont have enough points for december for the trips we like to take (one bedrooms)

Anyways we're going to pull the trigger anyways in q1 because im tired of being resale only tbh. I dont want to go to aulani in May and miss out on stuff again. We utilize the member extras probably more than some direct members do so that's not a question of whether wed get something out of it or not I really would love to go on the next Member cruise. Im not sure when the 2027 one goes on sale or if it has already, but if someone direct knows please let me know, because we want to do a cruise in 2027 so id like to purchase before then since we are anyways.

Were getting a little burnt out from wdw, we went three times this year. So that makes me feel we would just sell the points too and I wont do it myself, I dont like dealing with people and their issues and flakiness, so I know id get way less than $20 pp and regret not doing MB

All the grand villas ive seen are two stories (blt akv jambo okw) are there some that arent? Id prefer no stairs too, but not a deal breaker for us. Have stairs in our house so used to it.

If we're talking only WDW, one and two floor GVs are probably split. AKV Jambo, VGF, CCV, and RR have one floor GVs. SSR, OKW, BLT, and AKV Kidani have two floor GVs. BWV has both one and two floor configurations. BCV, BRV, PVB, and CFW don't have GVs.

Outside of WDW, two floor GVs are more common. VGC and VDH are both two floors. HHI and VB are both two floors. Aulani is one floor.

I was in a 1BR last February. It was fine, with the caveat that I tend to be on the Not Picky end of the spectrum.

I'm pretty sure I'd just be banking the first years points as our 2026 trips are already decided.

Points are meant to be used. But, if you genuinely don't have a use for them, then MB is about the best return you'll get, because it is a tax-free rebate and not a taxable rental.
