Not really jumping ship but trying Quantum of the Seas

Hi There!

I don't think I'm "jumping ships" but we will be trying RCCL for the first time next year. We still love Disney, but we wanted to try the new ship - Quantum of the Seas.

We have a DCL cruise (DVC member cruise) this August and a DCL Alaskan Cruise next August. But I noticed that RCCL Quantum of the Seas is having a March 2015 cruise out of New Jersey with all ports (except 1) that we have never visited with DCL.

We're new to cruising (started in Aug 2011) and have only cruised with DCL. We just became Gold members this past March.

I wish I was getting the same deals as others who are cruising RCCL, but I find our Quantum of the Seas cruise a bit more expensive (not including any beverage package). But I'm hoping that the new ports, innovative dining and activities will make up for it. I'm also hoping that the service is up to par with Disney.

Anyone else trying Quantum of the Seas (or Anthem when it's available) and feel the cost is on par with DCL so hoping that it's worth it?

Just a bit nervous about going with RCCL and "testing the waters". But definitely not jumping ship - but perhaps hoping for better itineraries from DCL.

New ship. New ship pricing. The cruises out of NY/NJ also seem to be priced a little higher as well. Having both Quantum and NCL Breakaway in the same area may (and I am probably wishing here) moderate prices a bit.

I think you are correct that the departure port is NJ is likely a major reason for the higher price. I'm sure if the departure port was in Florida, it may not be as high. It'll still be higher than their other ships because of the novelty, but not as high as it is at the NJ port.

I am booked on the Quantum of the Seas for the March 1 sailing. I love Royal Caribbean and you won't be disappointed. This ship looks fantastic and I'm really excited about the new dining venues.

Thanks for the reassurance! It does look great! :thumbsup2

It'll be our first time on another cruise line, so lots to learn. Glad to hear from someone who's been on RCCL. :goodvibes

I have booked for a three night on the anthem and yes the prices are high. I just really like the sound of the quantum/anthem. I wnt to know re the musical though lol :)

Does anyone know when the rest of schedule will be out. I'm thinking about the last week of May or first week of June. I'm sure the prices will be high, but I'm betting it still cheaper then DCL.
