Not ready yet???!!! A February trip report! Update 10/25 Day 9

Great update Karin! I think I have just decided on what I want the morning we go to WPE for breakfast.....what Tom had! I love your pizza but I don't love tomatoes on pizza

I am sure you would have loved the breadpudding! It was so out of this world good!
We have two reservations for the summer and I am so looking forward to ordering two starters again! Smaller size - less stuffed and room for dessert!

You won't regret staying at AKL! It is just beautiful and so are the rooms! And sitting on the balcony with the animals out there is just the icing on the cake.

Tell me about a few dollars here and there adding up! It might not be much for ONE day, but in the course of a week or in our case FOUR weeks, it adds up!

I think you're right about AKL! Gosh, WPE looks so good. We are going to have try it one of these days. Depending on what we end up doing this trip, maybe we'll make our way to DTD again. Who knows?

Yes, I can't even comprehend four weeks! But I am envious. That said, I'm still shocked at how much further my money goes in July than it does in February and that must be even more true come August and September.

I do love the photpass with Stitch. I have never seen it being done when I've been to AK though. I'll have to look harder next time around.

The breakfast pocket is a good choice, even though I am sure you "might" be able to order the breakfast pizza without the tomatoes!

The PP photos are the only photos we have of the two of us and since I always pre-purchase we get as many as we can to get the most for our bucks! This year I ended up with about 3000 of them (after editing that is! )

You are going to love AKL! It is such a pretty resort and all the animals are just the icing on the cake - and then there is breakfast at Boma, which is FAN-TAS-TIC!!!! (don't like it for dinner though), the Mara has some unique items for lunch and dinner too and as you know we love Sanaa and Jiko! Did I tell you before, that you are going to love it there?

You NEED to try WPE at DTD! Make sure you go to the one at Marktetplace - the menu is huge and items are more than large enough to share!
August and September are SO much cheaper than President's week! The heat and humidity make up for it though! BE prepared ...... it is HOT down there!

I knew they were offering that Stitch photo, but we never actually found a PP guy who was able to do it. When I saw that this one had a box I just had to try to get the shot!

Maritsa is just such a sweet CM! If you go to WPE I just hope she is there and you get to know her too!

It was the most beautiful day! We really enjoyed it so much and it got even better - am I giving too much away, but things worked out perfectly!

You HAVE NOT tried MY breakfast pizza ........... ............ something you will need to do. What a shame, now you need to go back to WDW!

Day 4, February 22

Megan and Meghan take us to Wild Africa! - Part 2


Now Tom always carries his driver’s licence, but all I had was my Key to the World and a Credit Card.
We tried to find out if we had enough time to go back to the hotel to get ID, but we would have cut it really close, so we decided to just try our luck and hope they would not mind.

we reached the tip-board and found out that there was nothing we could ride in the time until the Wild Africa Trek was to begin. At least we decided to pick up a Fastpass for Expedition Everest.

Since we had walked to Africa first we started to walk past the drums and saw a crowd of people standing around a side entrance and staring. We stopped and low and behold, hidden in a corner was Devine. People were pointing her out to other guests and we stood and watched for a while.

When we finally left and walked further down the trail we saw Baloo and King Louis doing a meet and greet. Only a few people in line, so we walked over and asked if the line was still open. Yes, it was and in we went and after a minute or so it was our turn to have our photos taken with the characters.

The reason why we wanted to have a few character photos taken was, that I had read that there were bonus photos that got uploaded once you had character photos taken. And yip, we ended up with quite a few bonus photos too!

We were not used to the heat, so we both got real thirsty and picked up a bottle of Diet Coke, which we shared before we headed over to Expedition Everest to pick up the Fastpasses.

On the way back we stopped to watch people get wet on Kali River Rapids and yes, they did get wet – BIG time!

Soon enough it was time to head back to Tusker House, so after a biological break we headed over to check in for the Wild Africa Trek.

I have never heard of the bonus pics. Is that new? In some ways it seems like I was just there, but that was 9 months ago (sheesh...no wonder I am antsy to go back) I bought the pp cd from that trip and no bonus pics.

We run into Devine nearly every trip! It's so much fun watching people who have not seen her before. The look on their faces is just that ...... "devine".

It is easy to take great pix at the AK! Oh, and the "biological break" as well as "liquid sunshine" (for rain) are not my creations - it is what you learn when you take too many Disney tours (and cruises! )

Thank you, Kathy. We were quite lucky with our PP pics, esp. with the character ones too - we do NOT hunt down the characters, but sometimes you "just run into them".
I think this was the first time we saw Baloo out there too!

I think they started the Bonus Pix earlier this year. I think I read about it here on the DIS!
We got some at the AK and some at the MK, never had any photos taken at DHS and even though we HAD some taken at Epcot, we never received the bonus ones. Either they don't do it there, or they were not in the system. I also found a code that gave you some Valentine's day photos, which I got as well - it was a good value for money PP CD!

The day is going to get better, Ann! It was wonderful, weather and tour!
