Not QUITE a birthday?

Hello, just curious...we're heading to WDW the entire week before my SD's 13th birthday; we have to leave on December 4th and her birthday's December 6th. We hadn't originally planned to bring her (our little ones are homeschooled, and SD's mom has always protested taking the Skids out of school, but relented this time for the birthday), but now she's along for a birthday present trip. It's FOR her birthday, but we couldn't quite get it ON her birthday, because of our schedule.

Can we still do the birthday pin thing on our last day, do you think, or do we need a birth certificate? She's a sweet kid, and she tends sometimes to get a bit left out. I'd like to give her an extra special bit of memory from this trip, so that she can really have a blast. Our last day will be all MK, which I'm confident will be her favourite park, and it'd be really nice to give her birthday girl treatment, even if we're two days off.

Thanks for the advice; I don't want to feel I'm conning anyone, it's just so close, and it's a particularly special birthday, you know?

Hey, I need in on this one. We go down on Sept 18 and are there till 25th. My sons 2nd birthday will be Oct 3.

We wanted to celebrate our sons birthday but were unsure of how and if we could do this since it is not "on" his birthday.

if it's just a few days away then that's fine - noone will ask for any proof or anything.

we went to Disneyland Paris for my dd's 4th birthday - but we had to fly home on her actual birthday, so we just made the day before her birthday - she had everything that day, pressies, cake etc and she wore her pin - she got loads of lovely attention -it's definitely worth doing.

Just a random thouht - at 13 she might feel uncomfortable pretending it's her birthday - my dd was 4 and just accepted that it was her birthday a day early but 13 is a strange age - why not ask her what she thinks - if she feels obliged to tell everyone ' it's not really my birthday till Tuesday' then it might put a dampner on her day? Not sure - just a thought

in the birthday stuff, and kind of wistful that she'd be too late. So I think it'll be okay, but you're right, it's a sensitive age. I'll talk it over with her when we get there.

On our last trip, we vacationed over DS's birthday. He wore the button the entire trip.

I think it's fine to celebrate a birthday even if it's not the actual date. To me it's like when you host a birthday party it's not always on the actual date of the birthday. I say celebrate it and have a ball!

We are actually going to be at WDW the week in between my 2 older kids birthdays. DD is turning 8 the week after and DS is turning 5 the week before. I actually planned on letting them both celebrate their birthdays all week so that they can experience birthday magic in all of the parks. I have heard of others doing this. Is this OK?

I'll tell ya what...I might not arrive at WDW until Dec 5th and will be there for one week (unless I go a couple days early). My actual birthday is 12/4. Your SD can celebrate my birthday before you leave and I'll celebrate her birthday when I get there.

OK, maybe not such a good idea. Seriously, though, I wouldn't worry about celebrating a little early and would get the button your last day.

We planned our last trip at the end of April/beginning of May. My 2 year old's birthday is in March and my 4 year old's in June. We celebrated each of their birthdays one day during the trip. We had no problem with it. They each got a button and wore it for the day. My 4 year old understood it was his "Disney birthday" just like his actual party with his friends at home wasn't on his real birthday. We didn't do it looking for "free stuff" we did it just so the kids could celebrate with the characters (we celebrated the 2 yo birthday at CP and the 4 yo at CMs).

Our New Years week trip we celebrated my Dad and my DHs birthdays. My Dad's birthday is 12/23 and my husband is 12/27. We had breakfast with Pooh on the 28th and celebrated their birthdays there. That's sort of what prompted celebrating the boys birthdays, because they had seen Daddy and Poppy have a "party with Pooh." We'll be doing the same thing (only at Chef Mickey's) this year however my Dad and my husband have suggested they have other ways they'd like to celebrate their birthdays. Dad wants the Richard Petty Driving Experience and DH wants a fishing excursion.
