NOT pool hopping, but what if visiting family?

Before anyone jumps down my throat, I know pool hopping is a no-no. Never done it, agree it shouldn't be done.

However, my question is this. We are scheduled for WDW in March (currently at POFQ, but are being told we most likely will get a relocation call that could land us at either the Poly or AKL). Anyhoo, my brother and his wife and their kids are going to be at WDW for 5 of the same days we are. They are staying in a 1-bedroom at the Boardwalk. My question is, what if they visit us or we visit them. Are we allowed to swim together in each other's pools or no?

We've always asked at the resort desk, and they have always said yes. I would suggest you ask...even if it's a crowded time, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Since you bumped it, I assume you are looking for more info. The "Official" word is, the pools are only for guests staying at the hotel of each pool. It's written on all the signs. The only way to "skirt" that, is to ask at each resort. I don't think there is any other answer, which may be why you haven't gotten any : (.

Thank you. I was wondering if there is some sort of guest policy. Like each hotel guest can get a pass for a visitor for a day or something like that.

No policy like that, sorry. I stay at the Poly during regular season and have seen resort IDs checked there twice. I don't know if the Boardwalk pool is as strict. Is that Stormalongbay? If so then I doubt you will be allowed guests there. At the Poly you have a better chance although March is high season. Can't you hang out at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? All you can do is ask. If they tell you know then you will have to meet some other place.

Yes, obviously, if we are told that we can't do that, then we wouldn't. I just thought I'd check to see if anyone knew specifically what/if there was a policy on this.

skiwee1,
Stormalong bay is not at the Boardwalk it is at the Yacht and Beach club. You definately can not pool hop to that pool, even DVC members not staying at the BCV can not do that . However I know that DVC members can pool hop to other pools except SAB and the pool at AKL. I'm not sure about cash paying guests though.

Although, since you weren't asking about pool hopping, but bringing a guest, I think you will find they will say yes, and even give you the "arm band" you need for your guest. Since your guest won't have a resort ID, you will have to tell the lifeguard they are your guest and the front desk ok'd it. Unless it has happened during very crowded times, I don't think you will have any problems getting permission. The lifeguard, in crowded time could override the front desk, but I bet that wouldn't happen. Others have asked and gotten permission for SAB for guests. Even though I get great advice on these boards, asking at the hotel, will be the only way you will really know.

Like DMRick said- ASK a CM at the resort. They probably won't care. This is a touchy subject for some on these boards, so you will get alot of different reactions. You have to remember that Disney (and not those on these boards) is the final say so. The worst they can do is tell you no.

we have never had a problem we have stayed at many of the resorts BC POLY POFQ and when family living in florida have visitied us durring all of our stays there has never been a problen with them joining us in the pools all we needed to do was show our resort ID's enjoy

Just this past October we stayed at BWV while my in-laws were at the All-Stars. We also asked the front desk if they could come swimming with us and said it was no problem. My in-laws joined us several afternoons and evenings in the BWV pool. If you are all not going during a super crowded time, I bet you will not have a problem inviting guests to your pool and vice versa.
