Not liking the Murphy bed refurb at Vero!

So, we are currently in a one bed villa at Vero beach. The unit looks lovely, and I guess the new Murphy bed is comfortable as a bed … but as a sofa it really isn’t the best!
There are only two of us here for a relaxing week, but we are having to take turns on the only armchair when we are in the lounge area. The sofa is very hard to sit on, there is no give in the cushions, and on top of that, it is positioned almost side on to the TV unit. I know logistically it couldn’t go anywhere else, and I’m sure a larger family would rather be comfy sleeping than sitting, but I’d rather just go sit on the bed and watch telly in there!
Is this just a problem with the choice of sofa used for the Vero refurb, or has anyone else noticed a decline in seating comfort after refurbs at other resorts?

The "Couch" exterior on the new Murphy beds at SSR and BWV are just as uncomfortable. However, they are more comfortable than the worn out sofa beds they replaced. i often wonder what would change if the room designers actually had to spend a week in one of their own rooms, and experience the feel of those couches for more than 20 minutes.....

Exactly!
The whole villa looks lovely, but only one person (or two very small ones) can comfortably relax and watch TV in the lounge area!

Let me add that I find the new couches uncomfortably firm too, but I like them better than the old ones - those cushions would slide off too easily, and we were always afraid we’d end up on the floor!

We've never had need of the sofa bed in any DVC villa, and probably never will, but appreciate that the change to Murphy beds makes a big difference for many. I've yet to sit on a Murphy bed couch though, and hope we won't find them too much more uncomfortable than the sofa bed type!

My worry after seeing where they've put the couch/Murphy bed in this latest Vero Beach refurb, is that they do the same at OKW when that next gets done. The new setup just doesn't look nearly as nice, or work as well as a sitting/tv watching area, as the old layout.
