Not liking daylight savings time!

Don't like changing back & forth - takes my internal clock weeks to adjust each time - & would prefer staying on standard time - I prefer light in the morning especially for driving to work & kids at the bus stops.
Either way most of us end up driving 1 way in the dark so it’s just a choice of to work or home. I’d rather drive to work in the dark and have the extra couple of hours at night when the kids can be outside and actually use the daylight. Or while so many of us are running back and forth to practices after school. I hate that it’s dark before dinner time and that I’m driving to wrestling practice in the dark. I much prefer a couple weeks ago where it was still light/dusk for 3/4 of football practice.

At least around here all of the winter activities (after school) are all indoor. Basketball, Wrestling, Choir, Theater, etc.
But the kids still have to get home in the dark.

At least you can drive in a car. I have no car to get to work and have to ride my bike in the dark in November to January.

The twice a year change doesn't bother me at all. I feel as good today as I did yesterday. During the shorter daylight time and cold of winter, I personally prefer a little more sunlight in the morning. When the daylight times are longer and the days of spring and summer are warmer, I prefer the longer daylight in the evening.

Daylight Saving Time, there's no "s" on the end of Saving, and as other pointed out, we are now in Standard Time. While I don't like it being dark at 5pm, I also don't like it being dark at 7am. Just wait two months when it's dark both times.

I kinda of disagree with the experts here. If studies simply based on body adapting to sunlight rythms etc.... they wouldnt people in different parts of the planet have issues? The real issue is how far one lives from the equator. Just checked. sunset today in Halifax is 4:23 in Miami 5:35.. Miami gets an hour more of sun.
More than that since the sun also rises earlier in Miami than it does in Halifax.

I can't decide how I feel about this article.

Part of me is skeptical because I think it's the abrupt time change in the spring that causes upticks in things like heart attacks, not the new time time itself. People have always experienced the gradual change daylight hours with the seasons. But I think we currently have people who are already mildly sleep-deprived losing that one more straw-that-broke-the-camel's-back hour.

However, the article also mentions that we've tried this before and people rejected it. I think we have to take a really close look at exactly what the complaints were, and if there are other ways to solve those problems, before we end up in the same position.

I personally do feel much more "in sync" with the clock during DST. During standard time, I need to go to bed much earlier than the social norm in order to function at my best. I either miss out on things or pay heavily for staying up for them.

But my DS is far more comfortable on standard time. He's more wired to stay up late and sleep in, and DST forces him to get up at an even more unnatural (for him) sun position to get to "normal" morning activities on time.

I think this is one of those things where you just can't get it perfectly right - for every person or every purpose. No matter what we decide, there are going to be problems, and the best we can do is figure out how to minimize them.

Well…Day One and I hate it already.😁. It is 5:15pm here in Massachusetts and pitch black. I should be ready for bed at like 7.😁. Anyone else not a fan?
I have a love/hate feeling for it.

I love when it’s dark out early because I’m more relaxed. When it’s light out until 8:00pm I’m constantly go go go - as long as it’s light out, I’m doing stuff or going somewhere.

I hate it, because I don’t like going home from work in the dark - it messes with my mind and makes me feel so tired. Then I get home and put my pjs on early, because nobody is coming over unexpectedly when it’s cold and dark out, and then I love it again - LOL!

I’m happy to have some light in the morning for a little bit.
Sky was light today. That will be gone at the latest probably Friday. In the summer, the sky is light for a couple weeks and I even catch the sun breaking the horizon for about a week. I don't want the sun breaking the horizon, I drive east my entire commute.

I now only have an hour if lucky to clean up the yard of leaves. I at least had 2 hours last week. That hour will be about 45 minutes here shortly and then the rage goes on as traffic idiots hold you up while you're trying to get home to get things done before it gets dark.

I absolutely love that we're back on standard time. I spend daylight savings time with my sleep patterns completely out of whack. Interestingly, I read an article today saying that DST isn't healthy and that the best thing would be to permanently stay on standard. I can only hope that that will happen at some point.
I read a study that says that as well. I read a study that says standard time isn't healthy. I read a study that says changing the clocks isn't healthy. I read a study that says not changing the clocks isn't healthy. There's a study and conclusion for every outcome of every instance of every event studied. :confused3

I don't care what any study says. For me personally, it absolutely sucks only ever seeing the sun on weekends.

And not light until 9:30a in Seattle in December? No thanks.
I looked at sunrise/sunset times on December 21 (shortest amount of sunlight).

Seattle Sunrise: 7:55A
Seattle Sunset: 4:20P

So if that was Saving Time, it would be 8:55A to 5:20P.

For comparison, I also looked at Cincinnati (~90 miles north of where I live)
Sunrise: 7:54A
Sunset: 5:19P

At least you can drive in a car. I have no car to get to work and have to ride my bike in the dark in November to January.
What hours do you work? Aren't you riding your bike home in the dark also?
