Well - We went ahead and changed our reservations yesterday to arrive on Tuesday instead of on Sunday. I know it's selfish - but I'm bummed about our trip! All the planning is getting changed at the last minute! Those poor people in FL, though - I guess I shouldn't be poutimg about my vacation! We'll still get to go! Good luck to everyone down there - we're praying for you and hoping it turns at the last minute.

I know how you feel, I was in the same boat on September 3 pre-Frances. We had a great trip, even though it was shorter than we planned. My thoughts are with the people of Florida, this is just too much!

I'm right there with you. We were supposed to fly out today. We are now on the last flight out tomorrow (monday). I just called BWV to tell them we will not be arriving today.

My Dad lives in Ft. Lauderdale so he is calling me every few hours with updates (they get a lot more info than we do up north).

Since Jeanne is slowing down and not moving out very quickly, I wonder when the Orlando airport will re-open.

Tuesday? That's too bad - that's a long time for the people who are there trying to leave, and for those who are waiting to get there. We're driving down from AL, so it won't change anything for us. I can't believe how bad this storm has been, and the lack of media it's getting up here - with the other storms there was so much hype. I guess the media is fed up!

Our reservations went from early Sunday am to Orlando to early Sunday to Tampa to later Sunday to Tampa. When that flight was cancelled, Delta told me I could get to Tampa at 11:30 pm Monday or Orlando by 11 am Tuesday. The agent did say Orlando might re-open earlier and to keep checking. However, I don't think I can manage another series of calls to Delta, Avis, SSR, the vet, etc. We're trying to make lemonade out of our lemons by using the time at home to get annoying errands out of the way. We'll be back for BWV in December (hurricane season is over by then right?). As someone said in another thread, the great thing about DVC is there's always another time.

This is a report in the last hour from Pigsty333 whose husband works in MCO and is there right now as part of the cleanup crews:

Hubby is still at work and called me to tell me that he won't be coming home until sometime tomorrow. He related that Orlando International Airport was flooded, heavy damage. The American Airlines Terminal Side roof had collapsed. He will let me know as soon as they tell them when the airport will reopen.

Safaru Queen, I am sure this is very frustrating and stressful for you. Hope it all works at and you can salvage something of your vacation.
