Not impressed with Via Napoli

All of you who have *not* cared for VN, have you ever tried Tutto Italia and did you have a better experience there? I'm debating between the two for our upcoming trip. Thanks!

We've eaten there quite a few times (starting back when it was still Alfredo's). It's much more a ristorante than a trattoria, which is evident in both the decor and menu. We've enjoyed our meals there, but the service can be a bit uneven, IMO.

We have not been for a while because the menu is not as appealing to us as other places. I was a BIG fan of Alfredo's and Tutto has just not been a good enough replacement menu-wise IMHO. However, I don't remember having service issues there at all. If the menu is appealing to you, then I would go for it.

I am in the undecided camp on VN. 3 years ago, we were a party of 3 who had just pizza. We had one of the best waitresses I have ever had and the pizza was fantastic. 2 years ago we went with a party of 14. It was not a good experience. Of course, dealing with a rowdy party of 14 is not easy, but this was a disaster. Very long wait, cold food, burned pizza and unresponsive servers. We are giving it another try in August with just the 3 of us again. Fingers crossed!

Anyone can catch a good restaurant on a bad day or a bad restaurant on a good day. I have only eaten at Via Napoli once but both my wife and I thought it was one of the best meals of our trip. We could go next time and have a terrible meal but in reading the boards it seems Via Napoli has more hits than misses.

I went last year and I had mixed feelings. First of all I am a pizza eating fanatic. That is what I seek out when going on any trip. My favorite type of pizza is what they make at VN. But..the pizza we got was a little too doughy for us. Not inedible though. But the fried veggie appetizer was delicious. I would give the food quality that night to be a B.

Service was A plus. Our server was probably the best we had all trip.

Every place no matter where you go have what they call "off" nights. My favorite local restaurant even has nights that things are just off. Doesn't mean I won't go back.

If things work out I am going to go back to VN this December. I'm willing to give it a second chance.

What made the experience bad for me wasn't the venue or staff but my sister who wasn't happy with anything and acted like an old bat while we were there.. :rolleyes1

Via Napoli still has the best pizza on Disney property - take that for what it's worth:thumbsup2

That is one of the main reasons I am giving it another try. We were there with my in-laws and several of them were CRAZY that night. :scared:

Yep...for some, it's simply being the tallest midget.

No offense to midgets.

Please sir, we're talking Disney here, I believe "Dwarf" would be preferable. ;) I agree--it's fine for pizza but most people probably have a place back home they like better than what they get at VN. Also it's LOUD in there, def not my cuppa tea. :)

I don't even want to try it. I can walk a block from my house and get fabulous Neapolitan pizza. Brick oven is a 5 minute drive.

I don't want to pay Disney prices for something that is so easily available at home.

3 here that love it, my hubby doesn't, everyone likes something different, but for the 3 females, we out vote the one that doesn't, will be there in August, ready for some great pizza

It's mediocre. Not bad, not great. We much prefer Tutto Italia which has more interesting dishes we can't easily get back home. Even the spaghetti and meatballs there is unique and delicious.

We did VN once and it was ok, but I honestly don't think it's worth one of our limited vacation experiences, especially at that price point.

VN seems to get a lot of love here on the DIS

1) OK, some people do LOVE Napoli.
2) I put this in the class of Le Cellier.
3) Not great, but people like it because of reputation.
4) In the case of VN, I think that most people like pizza, so it strikes a cord.
5) But, for most of the VN dishes, a "like" Lemmings-to-the-Sea, or Jumping-on-the-Bandwagon.

I love Via Napoli and Le Cellier. But what do I know.....I'm just a lemming. :rolleyes1

I'm from Long Island and we love it there. Service is always good. Pizza, while not the same as ourcorner shop on the island, was great. We got in as a walk up in May. We were warned of the length of time for the pizza to come.

I liked VN because I thought the food was good. I had mixed feelings about it when making ADRs two years ago because of mixed reviews, and because my family knows good pizza and as I was the one making the ADR, I hoped I wouldn't be blamed if the food was just ok. But we loved everything we had (pizza, salad, a few appetizers, drinks, dessert). The thing is, my family--who don't post here, don't follow DIS online, etc.--had no idea about VN's reputation going in and loved it, and my mother says it's the best pizza she's ever had. No lemmings here.

Last year our service wasn't great, they brought our app out after our pizza had already come out.
We do enjoy the pizza.
But Pepe's in New Haven, CT is my personal favorite :)

Subjective. Your comments are noted in the archives of "I love it or hate it even though I was warned" category.

No large is worth what they charge but it is Disney and we still love it and spend it.

We went as a group of 10 last August and got 2 apps and the huge pizza. It was a huge hit for all of us, and our cheapest Disney meal. Also, our server was spectacular!

We're from the Philadelphia area and have great pizza close by, and while VN wasn't AMAZING, it was worth the cost for us.
