Who knew that there is no such thing as an American with an accent? Im not sure exactly what the problem was. Could OP not understand the CM because of the accent? Could the CM not understand the OP because her understanding of English was lacking or because the OP might not have been particularly clear in her wording? Were there problems with the ME information placed into the system? Or was it simply the fact that the CM had an accent that wasn't an "American" one?

I can understand ( to a degree) if the problem was one or more of the first 3, especially if she attempted to remediate the problem by asking to speak with a different CM. However, if the problem was the last, above, then the problem IMO lies within the OP. I wonder if the OP would have had a problem with a CM who was in an outsourced call center but didn't have a "foreign sounding" accent.

I would. Like I said before I care more about people in this country staying employed then me dealing with someone who doesn't understand me. I called back and got everything taken care of.

How are you sure they weren't American's though? In my office you could call our finance team and 2 different positions have people with very thick accents. They are American citizens just like the rest of us but I'm sure if someone called and got one of those 2 people they would assume we were outsourcing.

Magical Express is outsourced to another company, so it is very possible that the other company is at fault for hiring someone the OP can't understand. But how do you know you are talking to a person in another country and not someone from another country working in the US?

Or maybe the person you got was an American with a thick accent ? or don't those exist ?
Exactly! All the OP had to do was call back. As far as I know, the call center is in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. I know the guest relations number is in Hollywood Studios.

Call center is either Tampa or Tallahassee. You are correct about GR. They GRs who take calls or emails are usually stationed in Hollywood Studios.

Positive.

I'm not sure that Disney does outsource their call center. I remember there used to be a very large call center in Tampa years ago. I think it is just as plausible that they hired someone here in the USA who's first language isn't English as it is that the calls are handled overseas.

I have a friend with a very heavy Indian accent that is just as American as I am and worked locally in a call center while he was in college. I would guess a lot of people who got him assumed the call center was in India even though his company's call centers were all in the USA.

lets see I called back twice today and 3 times yesterday all Indian accent

Sorry, folks. This conversation heading in the wrong direction so, that's a wrap.

We don't have an issue with you guys discussing the locations of call centers but it's not OK to put folks down who have a thick accent and work in a call center. If you can't understand the person on the other end of the phone line, like a couple of prior posters have suggested, hang up and call back.

Be kind...............

Thanks!
