that they took 1 snack away from the plan. That extra snack in the plan made a big difference.

There's probably a lot of truth to the idea that Disney knocked a snack off the quick service plan because they thought it would go over better than raising the price, seeing as the price of all the other plans shot up quite a bit this year.

If that's not the case with you (or anyone else) consider writing a letter or email to Guest Services and say you would like the snack back, even if it means a higher price for the QS plan (assuming you would).

Consider paying out of pocket and get what you want when and where you want it. You may be surprised to find you save money since you are not locked in to the not so yummy pre packaged desserts that go with the QS meals and you can instead get the yummy treats you want OOP.

I agree completely! It was hard at first to step away from the comfort of the dining plan. I did my 'homework', came up with a per day budget for food and we went from there - it's really very easy and oh so flexible. Nice not to 'have' to eat dessert with your meal - nice to be able to put it off until later and for a better snack/ dessert than a lot of the pre-packaged QS locations (think would you rather have the prepackaged 'chocolate cake' in the plastic container from a CS location or a Butterfinger cupcake from starring rolls?)

I'm deciding to pay OOP or do the dining plan. 2 Adults:hug: 3 childern:dance3:. This trip we decided to do Sit down meals more often. We are married 15 years in May and want this trip to be more then running and quick service meals. We are trying to decide if it pays.We have a room only discount, but we can add the DD.
Should We or shouldnt We? :confused3

I'm another one that always did the DDP or DxDDP and finally stepped away from them this past year. I go to WDW several times a year and always pretty much got one of the DDPs. As of Sept I decided to buy the TiW card instead. Even though most of my trips are solo, the TiW card saves me money, and allows me to eat exactly what I want (two appetizers, an appetizer and an entree, or all three courses if I want). Now we did use the DxDDP for our Feb trip, but we were taking our 3 y/o GS down there and wanted to do all the character meals we could for him. With three TS meals most days the DxDDP worked out better, but I did run the numbers several times to make sure. For my Sept, Nov/Dec trips and my upcoming May, Sept, and Oct trips I am using TiW. It was really, really hard to get away from using the DDP after using it multiple times every year, but I am so glad I did. I refuse to skimp on vacation and order exactly what I want, but know I usually prefer appetizers to dessert. Sometimes I may want something sweet quite awhile after dinner. The TiW allows me to do so and still save more money than I would with any of the DDPs. My main reason for loving the DDP was having everything prepaid. Now I just buy Disney gift cards before each trip and still have everything prepaid, plus I always come back with some left over for the next trip. I love that feeling.:rotfl:

Completely agree with OP that losing the second snack on the Quick Service Dining Plan was a real disappointment. :sad1: As the other posters have noted, the change has people wondering if the plan is worthwhile anymore. I would have much preferred that they drop the desserts and replace them with additional snacks. That would allow guests much more flexibility without requiring a price increase.

You really have to run the numbers to see if it makes sense. If you plan on doing a lot of sit down meals, and many of them will be character meals, or more expensive meals, then the dining plan will probably save you money.

If you have an idea of what restaurants you are going to eat at, take a look at their menus and the pricing. You can probably get a good idea of what a meal will cost you. Do that for your whole trip and you should be able to tell if the dining plan will save you money or not.

Out of more than a dozen trips to WDW I have only used the plan 3 times. Usually I can eat for a lot cheaper paying out of pocket. However when I have done a lot of sit down meals the dining plan has made sense.

With 3 kids (if they are under 10) will probably be a good deal especially if you do character meals or shows.

For the original OP - having done the QSDP in the past with 2 snacks and using it again last week with 1 snack, I really didn't see a difference. We still ended up with extra snacks at the end of the week, ended up throwing many yucky desserts in the trash, etc. Without the extra snack, we were still full. We did get a better value out of the plan due to eating at WGP Express. But, if I were to subtract off the desserts that we trashed and the extra snacks that we used for Goofy candy to bring home, we would probably be in the hole. Oh and also the refillable mug had little value in.

I was a little miffed when we went in November and discovered that you now only get one drink at breakfast. We used to get two waters: one to have a breakfast and one to take with us into the parks. When I asked the CM why there was a change, she replied that it was because people complained about it.

I agree with not being happy about removing one snack. I liked at the end of the trip to get goodies for friends and family back home. Yeah Mickey Rice Cripsy Treats!!

Just an FYI - if you don't like the dessert, then you don't have to get them. I sometimes got the grapes or carrots sticks from the kids menu instead of a dessert. Or fruit cups if they offered them (at Pop). Or you can even get an extra bottle of water.
